Thanks for sharing your experience. Really helpful info, as I am facing the exact same symptoms in my S6 right now. The turbocharger issues sound spot on with what I am experiencing. Did you remember roughly what you paid for the full repair? Also wondering if you have had any related issues pop up since the fix? My actuator valve is definitely showing similar behavior to what you described with the wastegate not functioning properly.

Thanks for asking about the follow-up. Since getting the repair done, the boost pressure actuator fault was completely resolved and the car runs perfectly. The total cost came to 250 Euro for fixing the electrical bypass valve defect. This included the diagnostic work, parts replacement, and system recalibration. No related issues have occurred in the months since the repair. The boost control system is working as intended, with proper pressure regulation and no check engine lights. The power delivery is smooth, fuel consumption is back to normal, and those concerning noises are gone. The actuator valve replacement was definitely the right call, the symptoms you describe match exactly what was happening with mine. Getting it fixed promptly helped avoid any potential damage to the turbo system. The pressure sensor readings are now stable and the boost control is functioning exactly as it should. Would strongly suggest having it repaired soon, as continued driving with a faulty actuator can lead to more expensive turbo repairs down the line.

After getting the suggestions here, I took my S6 to a specialized turbo shop last week. The symptoms matched what others described, definitely a boost control issue affecting the turbocharger performance. The mechanic found a faulty actuator valve causing inconsistent boost pressure, exactly as suspected. The repair included: New bypass valve, Actuator recalibration, Fresh seals, Full system test Total cost was 290 Euro and took about 5 hours. The turbocharger is now working perfectly, no more whistling or power loss. Fuel economy is back to normal and the engine light is off. Really glad I caught this early before it could damage the turbo. The specialist did a much better job than my previous mechanic would have. Definitely worth finding someone who knows these systems well.

Experienced similar symptoms on my S4 TDI from 2018. The boost leak diagnosis showed a faulty electrical bypass valve, causing inconsistent turbo system performance. The symptoms matched exactly, whistling noise, significant power loss, and poor fuel economy. The turbo wastegate wasnt opening and closing properly, triggering the check engine light and creating boost control issues. A complete scan revealed the actuator fault, which required replacing the bypass valve assembly and recalibrating the turbo control module. This is a serious issue that needs immediate attention, as continued driving can damage the turbo system. The repair involved: Full diagnostic scan, Bypass valve replacement, Turbo actuator calibration, Pressure testing of all boost-related components The whole job took about 6 hours at an authorized dealer workshop. Would recommend going to a specialist familiar with VAG turbo systems, as correct diagnosis and proper parts are crucial for this repair. After fixing, the engine performance returned to normal, boost pressure stabilized, and the whistling completely disappeared. Consider getting it checked soon to prevent potential turbo damage.
