RSQ3 Door Lock Failure: Central System Dead

Vehicle cannot be unlocked or locked

My 2023 RSQ3 doors suddenly stopped working, cant lock or unlock them. The door switch works fine manually but the electronic central locking system fails completely. Vehicle doors show no response when using the key fob either. Car runs great otherwise with 81393km on the clock. The door sensor lights on the dash are also acting weird. Has anyone dealt with similar electrical issues and how much did repairs cost? Really want to avoid getting ripped off at the dealer after my last experience.

Had the same electrical issue on my 2020 RS4 last month. The door latch system completely failed, similar to your symptoms, no response from key fob and central locking system stopped working entirely. The door sensor indicators were flickering out of nowhere on the dashboard. The root cause was a damaged wiring harness connector near the driver side door. Moisture had corroded the main connection points that control the central locking mechanism. This is actually a common failure point when the door sensor wiring gets exposed to water over time. The repair required replacing the entire door wiring harness and reprogramming the door control module. While not mechanically serious, it needed specialized diagnostic equipment to properly reset the car alarm system and sync the new components. Worth checking the fuse box first, but based on your description, it sounds like the same wiring harness issue. Would recommend having a certified technician diagnose it, as DIY attempts can trigger additional electrical faults in modern vehicles with complex door security systems.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Those symptoms sound exactly like what I dealt with on my RSQ3. The contact signal issues and faulty door sensor were definitely stressful to diagnose. Did you happen to remember the total repair cost for the wiring harness replacement? Just trying to get a ballpark figure before I take mine in. Also curious if youve had any other electrical issues pop up since getting it fixed? My car alarm has been acting a bit strange lately too, so wondering if these problems tend to cascade.

Great news, I got my RSQ3 back from the shop and the faulty door contact signal issue was fully resolved. The repair was much simpler and cheaper than expected at 95 Euro. Turned out the problem was just a loose cable connection in the door sensor wiring harness that needed to be properly reseated and secured. Since the repair two months ago, the central locking and car alarm systems have worked flawlessly. No cascade of electrical issues like you mentioned. The door latch mechanisms are responding perfectly to both the key fob and interior switches now. Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend getting it checked soon before any moisture causes more extensive damage to the wiring harness. The initial diagnosis might reveal a similarly simple fix rather than requiring complete component replacement.

The mechanic visit today was such a relief! After reading about your similar wiring harness experience, I was worried about a major repair bill. Turns out my automatic locks issue was also just a loose connection in the main door sensor module. The tech found that the door switch wiring had worked itself loose over time, causing the central locking system to malfunction. Total cost was 120 Euro for diagnostic and repair, way less than I feared. They cleaned and secured all the connections while checking the car alarm system too. All electronic door functions are working perfectly now. The dashboard warning lights have stopped acting up and the key fob is responding normally again. Really glad I got it sorted quickly before any serious damage occurred to the wiring harness. Thanks for helping me avoid an unnecessary dealer markup!
