RSQ3 Audio System Dead: Complete Speaker Silence

Audio system is not working

|

No sound of the Audiosystem

Looking for advice with my 2013 RSQ3 audio system that suddenly stopped working. The head unit powers on and looks normal, but there is no sound output through any speakers. I have checked the volume control settings and tried both USB audio and auxiliary input sources without success. Has anyone encountered a similar issue and had it repaired? Particularly interested in what components needed replacement and if there might be a connection to the amplifier. Would appreciate hearing about repair costs and time needed at the workshop.

I had this exact problem with my 2015 RS3. As someone who has worked on basic car maintenance but isnt an audio expert, I initially thought it was a simple connectivity issue. After checking the basic stuff like fuses and radio silence from all audio sources (Bluetooth, USB audio and aux), I took it to a workshop. They diagnosed a failed bass speaker which was causing a short in the audio system, making the amp cut out as a safety measure. The repair took about 3 hours total and cost 280 Euro including parts and labor. The bass speaker replacement fixed all audio connectivity issues completely. Could you share: Whether you hear any crackling or distortion when trying different volume levels, If the problem started suddenly or developed gradually, If your car speakers worked normally with all sources before this happened, Whether you had any recent work done on the electrical system This info would help determine if youre dealing with the same speaker issue or possibly something different with your audio system.

Thanks for the detailed response. You're right about checking those basics first. My car just had its 30000km service last month with no issues reported. When testing different audio sources, I notice no sound distortion or crackling at any volume control level, just complete silence from all car speakers. The problem occurred suddenly during a normal drive, with no warning signs. Before this, sound quality was perfect across all inputs including USB audio. The strange part is I can see the head unit displaying track information and volume adjustments, but zero output. Starting to think it might be the amplifier rather than individual speakers since none of them work.

Thanks for the follow-up details. Based on what youre describing, this does sound different from my speaker issue. The complete radio silence across all outputs, combined with normal head unit display function, strongly points to an amplifier problem rather than individual car speakers. In my case, I had intermittent sound before total failure, but your sudden complete loss without any distortion or crackling is a classic amplifier symptom. The fact that your head unit shows proper track info and responds to volume control settings while maintaining perfect display function further supports this. When my speaker was replaced, the workshop mentioned that total amplifier failures are actually more common than individual speaker issues in our model. The typical repair cost for amplifier replacement runs 400-600 Euro, and labor time is usually 2-3 hours. Since your car just had service work, it might be worth checking if any connections were accidentally disturbed during maintenance. However, given the symptoms, prepare yourself for potential amplifier replacement to restore sound quality and functionality. If you want to confirm before heading to the shop, try testing the auxiliary input, if theres still no output using a direct line-in source, its almost certainly the amp.

After reading through the responses, I want to help narrow this down further. The amp issue definitely seems the most likely culprit given the total radio silence across all sound outputs. The timing with the recent service is interesting, though in my case there were no recent maintenance visits. I just tested the auxiliary input as suggested, and still got zero sound, so that further confirms the amplifier theory. I'll schedule a workshop visit and expect around 500 Euro for the amp replacement based on the cost estimate provided. The 2-3 hour repair time works well with my schedule too. One final question before I book it in, would there be any value in having them check the wiring harness connections first? Just thinking about potential cost savings if its something simple that got knocked loose during the service, rather than going straight to replacing the amplifier. The sound system worked flawlessly before this, so exploring a quick fix seems worth asking about.
