Thanks for sharing your experience. My RS7 is 109322 KM and just had its latest service last month. The sun visor mechanism makes a faint clicking sound when trying to operate it, but nothing else happens. Good to know about the motor replacement being the likely culprit. The window visor motor diagnosis matches what my system is showing. Will contact the dealer right away since its still under warranty. Really helpful to know the repair time is only around 2 hours, makes planning the service visit much easier. Did your car interior trim pieces show any signs of wear after they were removed for the sunshade repair? Just want to make sure everything goes back together properly when they do the work.

Yes, glad I could help with your sun blind issue. The clicking sound definitely points to a motor failure, just like in my case. The interior trim in my RS6 was perfectly fine after the repair, the workshop used proper tools and techniques for removal and reinstallation of the car interior components. One tip from my experience: after they replace the sun protection motor, ask them to run several full extend/retract cycles to ensure proper calibration. This helps prevent future issues with the car sunshade mechanism. Since your car just had service, they might have logged other related system data that could be useful for diagnosing the UV protection system failure. Worth mentioning this to the dealer when you take it in. In my case, the new motor unit has been reliable for over 18 months now, with no signs of wear or malfunction in the sun blind operation. The workshop also applied some special lubricant to the tracks, which probably helped with long-term smooth operation.

Thank you for the detailed feedback on the interior trim question. The clicking noise seems to match exactly what you experienced with your motor issue. Given the recent service, I will definitely mention the system data logging when I take it in for the UV protection repair. My main concern about the car sunshade repair was potential damage to the trim, so its reassuring to hear yours went back together without issues. Will ask them about the lubricant application you mentioned, seems like a smart preventive measure for the window visor mechanism. Going to schedule the warranty work tomorrow. Really appreciate knowing what to expect with the motor replacement and calibration process. Will make sure they do those test cycles you suggested after installing the new sun visor unit.

Had the exact same sunshade repair issue with my 2021 RS6. Being somewhat experienced with car interior fixes, I first thought it was just a fuse, but the diagnostic showed the sun blind motor was completely dead. Took it to a workshop and they confirmed the motor unit in the sunshade mechanism needed replacement. The entire repair took about 2 hours since they had to partially remove some interior trim pieces to access the sun protection system properly. Total cost was 330 Euro including parts and labor. After the fix, the sun blind has been working flawlessly. Just make sure they properly calibrate the new motor unit after installation, this is crucial for smooth operation. What trim level is your RS7? Also, does the sunshade make any noise when you try to operate it? This could help determine if its just the motor or if there might be other components affected in the interior accessory system. If its still under warranty, definitely have the dealer look at it. These sun protection systems are pretty complex and its best to have them properly diagnosed and fixed while covered.
