RS5 Power Loss: Stored Fault Code Needs Expert Fix

Fault stored

|

Loss of engine power

Running into issues with my 2015 Audi RS5 and need some guidance. The engine performance has dropped significantly, and my dashboard light is showing reduced power mode. Already had a scan tool reading done showing a stored fault code, but my last mechanic experience was questionable. The car has 107154 km on the clock and runs on gasoline. Has anyone dealt with similar power loss issues on their RS5? Really looking for recommendations on reliable shops that know how to handle these engine issues properly.

Had a similar situation with my 2018 Audi RS3. After third-party chip tuning, the car started showing reduced power warnings and stored multiple fault codes in the car computer. The root cause was incompatible tuning software that conflicted with the factory ECU settings. The car went into limp mode to protect itself from potential damage. This is actually a serious issue that can lead to long-term engine damage if not addressed properly. The fix required: Complete diagnostic scan to identify all affected systems, Removal of third-party tuning software, Resetting the ECU to factory settings, Reflashing the engine control module, Clearing all stored fault codes Most importantly, the car computer needed proper recalibration to restore factory settings. This is typically a job for authorized dealers or specialized performance shops with proper diagnostic equipment and software access. Your symptoms match exactly what happened in my case, power loss and warning lights are classic signs of ECU conflicts. Would strongly recommend avoiding third-party tuning without proper research and verification of the tuner's credentials.

Thanks for the detailed explanation of your RS3 ECU issue. The symptoms sound identical to what I am experiencing with my engine right now. Before booking anything, I was just wondering, do you remember roughly how much the diagnostic code clearing and ECU reset ended up costing? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any lingering engine issues? I want to be prepared for what to expect cost-wise and make sure I address all potential problems while the car computer is being serviced.

After getting my RS3 properly diagnosed and fixed, the total cost came to 180 Euro for resetting everything back to factory settings. The main issue was definitely the faulty chip tuning that had been installed by an unauthorized provider. Since having the car computer restored to factory specifications and clearing all diagnostic codes, the engine has been running perfectly with no power loss or warning lights. The auto scanner shows everything is back to normal, and performance is exactly as it should be from the factory. The check engine warning disappeared immediately after the fix, and I have not experienced any recurring engine issues in the months since. Getting rid of that problematic third-party tune was definitely worth the investment to protect the car long-term. My advice would be to get this addressed soon, as running with compromised ECU settings can potentially cause more expensive problems down the road. The symptoms you describe are classic signs of tuning conflicts that need proper diagnostic attention.

I finally took my RS5 to a specialized Audi performance shop last week. Their vehicle diagnostics confirmed the ECU issues you mentioned. The total repair bill came to 220 Euro, which included a complete diagnostic code scan, ECU reset, and software recalibration. The mechanic discovered my car had an old performance tune installed by the previous owner that was causing conflicts with the factory settings. After clearing the stored fault codes and restoring factory specifications, the engine performance returned to normal immediately. Been driving for a few days now and the car feels completely different, much smoother power delivery and no more warning lights. The auto scanner shows all systems running properly. Really glad I got this fixed before any serious engine issues developed. Thanks again for sharing your experience. It helped me understand exactly what was happening and gave me confidence to get it properly diagnosed and repaired.
