Thanks for sharing your experience with the RS5. I wonder if you can clarify the repair costs? My insurance is asking for an estimate since my Audi RS4 is showing similar central locking issues. The key fob stopped working last week and now even the manual door locks are unresponsive. The repair shop mentioned potential water damage to the fuse box which could have corroded the wiring. Hoping you could share what you paid and whether any follow-up repairs were needed? Also curious if reprogramming the key fob was included in your total repair cost.
Great news, got my central locking system fully fixed last week. The total repair came to 95 Euro, which was much less than expected since it turned out to be just a loose cable connection at the fuse box. The remote locking and keyless entry are both working perfectly now. No need for expensive control module replacement or reprogramming like initially feared. The mechanic found the issue quickly during diagnosis, just a corroded plug that was causing the door locks to malfunction. The repair included: Diagnostic scan, Cleaning corrosion from connections, Securing loose wiring, Testing all door locks, Verifying central locking operation No additional repairs needed since fixing that one faulty connection resolved all the locking mechanism problems. The key fob worked right away once the wiring was properly secured. Much simpler fix than my previous post suggested it might be. This shows how important proper diagnosis is, what seems like a major central locking failure can sometimes be fixed with basic electrical repairs.
Going to share my recent repair experience. Finally got my RS4 fixed yesterday after dealing with the central locking issues. Turned out way better than expected. Took it to a shop specializing in security system repairs. The mechanic found the problem within an hour, a damaged wire harness near the fuse box was causing the keyless entry malfunction. Total repair cost was 280 Euro including: Full computer diagnostic scan, Replacement of damaged wiring harness, Testing all door actuators, Reprogramming both key fobs, Labor costs The central locking works perfectly now. All doors respond to both remote and manual controls. No more error codes on the dashboard. The mechanic also cleaned some corrosion around the connections while doing the repair. Much cheaper than the potential control module replacement I was worried about. Glad I got a second opinion instead of rushing into expensive repairs. The whole job took about 3 hours and came with a 12-month warranty on the work.
Had this exact problem with a 2012 RS5 last winter. The central locking system failure was traced to a faulty keyless entry control module under the dashboard. The security system showed similar error codes through the computer. The main symptoms matched, complete failure of remote locking and manual controls. After diagnosis, we found corroded connections at the main fuse box that controls the locking mechanism. The issue required: Full diagnostic scan, Removal of door panels, Replacement of the control module, Rewiring of connections, Reprogramming of the security system This was a serious repair that needed specialized equipment since the entire locking mechanism had to be recalibrated. The control module is a common failure point in these models. Would suggest getting it checked soon as faulty door locks can lead to security risks. The repair should include testing all door actuators and the central locking relay to prevent future issues. Main components of the keyless entry system should also be inspected for water damage.
