Thanks that's really helpful to hear about your experience with the injectors! I've been worried it might be something like that. How much did you end up paying for the whole job if you don't mind me asking? And has everything been running smoothly since the repair, or have you had any other issues pop up?
Hey again! Happy to give you an update. Yeah, just got back from my mechanic a few weeks ago where they sorted out those injector issues on my Outlander. The total bill came to 515€, which included replacing three faulty injectors and cleaning the entire fuel system. While it wasn't cheap, it was totally worth it! The car's running like a dream now, honestly, it's like having a completely different vehicle! No more shaking at idle, got all my power back, and my fuel consumption has returned to normal. The rough engine running is completely gone, and I haven't had a single issue since the repair. Looking back, I'm just glad I didn't wait too long to get it fixed. These diesel engines can get really messed up if you keep driving with bad injectors. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out sooner rather than later. Trust me, you'll feel the difference immediately! Let me know if you end up getting yours fixed, would be interested to hear how it goes!
Thanks for the detailed follow-up! I actually just got back from the mechanic today. You were spot on about the injectors, had two bad ones that needed replacing. My bill was a bit higher at 680€ because they also found some related issues with the fuel lines that needed sorting. The whole experience wasn't as painful as I feared. Found a really decent mechanic who specializes in Mitsubishis through a 's recommendation. They were super transparent about what needed fixing and even showed me the old injectors to explain what went wrong. The difference is incredible! The engine's purring like a kitten now, no more shaking or power loss. Already noticed I'm using way less fuel on my drive home. Honestly feeling a bit silly for putting it off for so long, should've done this weeks ago! Really appreciate everyone's help and advice on this. It definitely made me feel more confident about what to expect and helped me avoid getting ripped off. Sometimes it's just good to hear from others who've been through the same thing!
Had similar issues with my 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander diesel last year. Those symptoms definitely sound like faulty fuel injectors, I went through exactly the same thing. The rough idle, power loss, and high fuel consumption were spot on with what I experienced. Took it to my regular mechanic and they confirmed multiple injectors were shot. They had to replace three of them and clean the fuel system. It was quite a serious job since bad injectors can really damage your engine if left unfixed. The repair took about two days because they had to test each injector and clear all the error codes afterward. The difference after fixing was like night and day, smooth idle, proper power delivery, and fuel consumption went back to normal. From my experience, you'll want a mechanic who specifically knows Mitsubishi diesel engines, as the injection system is quite complex. Make sure they do a proper diagnostic test before replacing anything. Could also be something else, but those symptoms really match injector problems. Hope this helps!
