Rough Cold Start? Fuel Injector Warning Signs & Fixes

Having issues with my 2016 Corvette that's showing classic fuel delivery problems. Engine runs rough during cold starts and sometimes struggles to start at all. Pretty sure it could be the cold start injector acting up. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms and confirmed it was actually the injector? Interested in hearing about diagnostic steps and repair experiences. Really trying to pinpoint if this is a fuel injection issue before heading to a shop. Any input on repair costs would be great too.

Had the exact same symptoms on my 2014 Camaro, rough idle, hard starting, and engine misfire issues, especially during cold starts. After weeks of frustration, took it to a shop where they diagnosed a faulty fuel injector. The diagnostic showed inconsistent fuel spray patterns affecting the fuel rail pressure. Total repair was 515 for parts and labor, they replaced the problematic injector and everything's been running smooth since. No more cold start problems or rough running. What's your current mileage? Have you noticed any check engine lights or specific error codes? These details would help confirm if you're dealing with the same issue I had. Quick tip: While waiting for repairs, try cranking the engine twice (key to ON position, wait 2 seconds, back to OFF) before actually starting, this helps prime the fuel system and might temporarily improve starting.

Just had my service done at 99916 KM and I'm getting the exact same symptoms. Started noticing more engine misfire episodes, especially after the rough idle during cold starts. No check engine light yet, but the starting issue is getting worse. Tried the double-crank method you mentioned, it does help sometimes but clearly isn't fixing the underlying problem. Planning to get professional injector cleaning first since it's less expensive than replacement. If that doesn't resolve the fuel delivery issues, I'll probably go the replacement route like you did. Good to know about the repair costs, gives me a ballpark figure to work with. Did you notice any improvement in fuel economy after the fix?

Had the injector cleaning done first too on my Camaro, but it only helped temporarily. The fuel delivery problems came back within a few weeks, especially the rough idle and cold start issues. After the actual injector replacement, fuel economy improved by about 2-3 MPG. The engine runs noticeably smoother now, particularly during cold starts. No more rough idle or hard starting problems that I used to experience. While injector cleaning is cheaper upfront, I ended up spending more in total since I had to do the replacement anyway. The inconsistent fuel spray pattern was causing uneven fuel distribution in the fuel rail, which cleaning couldn't fully fix. Based on your mileage and symptoms matching mine exactly, you're likely facing the same underlying issue. Would recommend skipping straight to replacement if you can swing it, saves time and money in the long run. The fuel delivery problems will probably just get worse, and you might start seeing that check engine light soon if the injector continues deteriorating.

Thanks for the detailed feedback about the injector replacement. Really helps hearing about your similar experience, especially the part about injector cleaning being just a temporary fix. Makes sense about the fuel economy improvement too, that's a nice bonus. Think I'll skip the cleaning and go straight for the replacement based on your experience. No point wasting money on a temporary solution, especially since my symptoms match yours so closely. The rough idle and cold start issues are definitely getting more frequent, and I'd rather fix it properly now before I start seeing more serious engine misfire problems. Going to schedule the injector test and replacement next week. The €515 cost seems reasonable considering it'll probably solve both the fuel delivery issues and improve overall performance. Just hoping it's a straightforward fix like yours was.
