Resolving Issue of Persistent Low Tire Pressure in a '02 Kia Bongo: Seeking Tips and Experiences

Tire pressure to low

Hey! I'm dealing with some weird issues on my '02 Kia Bongo with a Gasoline engine. The main problem is showing with the tires - low tire pressure, even though I've checked them and inflated them properly. Anyone else ever had this issue on their Bongo? How did you all troubleshoot this? I'm really interested in hearing about your experiences with this, particularly if you've had the problem sorted out at a workshop. What went down and how was it resolved? Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated! Cheers.

Hey there! I had a similar issue on my '00 Kia Carnival, a bit different model but same brand. I'd say I have some level of car expertise, I'm no mechanic, but I can juggle about under the hood. I noticed the problem while inflating the tires, just kept losing pressure. Made no sense to me, so I took it to my local workshop. Turns out, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) was failing, giving false readings. Took a bit of diagnostic skills, y’know? It racked up a bill of around €625, but got the job done. I reckon your Bongo might have a similar issue. Could you share more details about your Bongo? Like when you last serviced it or if you've noticed issues with other systems? Would really help to zero in on the problem. Cheers!

Hey! Thanks for that solid advice. My Bongo's got around 187159 clicks on it, but I try to keep it running smoothly. I usually service it about every 15,000 KM or so, so its last outing to the garage wasn't too long ago. Besides the tire pressure shenanigans, it's been pretty reliable. I have never thought about the TPMS, but it does sound possible. Next time I bring in the Bongo for its regular check, I'll have a mention about your experience. The bill does sound a bit hefty, but if it's the same fault, I'd rather get it sorted out sooner than later. Thanks again for the advice!

No worries. You're doing a bang up job servicing it regularly, so that's not likely the issue. With a vehicle's age, certain parts might start acting up. The TPMS could well be one of those parts, especially if you're getting false pressure readings! And yes, it might set you back a bit, but hey, it's better to invest in the ride than ending up stranded somewhere, right? Plus, not addressing it could cause additional wear and tear on your tires overtime, and that could rack up a bill even higher than the TPMS. Be sure to let the mechanic know about your tire pressure readings. It might help him zero in on the TPMS as the culprit. Hopefully, your problem gets sorted out soon and your Bongo can continue to run smoothly on the streets, with proper tire pressures! Cheers and good luck!

Hey, that's a solid point. I'd rather spend some quid now than get hit by a pricier pile of problems down the line. And yeah, definitely don't want to end up stranded on the roadside! I'll make sure to let the mechanic know about the tire pressure issue next time I'm in. Appreciate your help and insights. Here's to hoping the Bongo keeps on bonging along smoothly - with correct tire pressure readings! Cheers!
