Resolving a Hands-Free System Microphone Issue in a 2010 Volvo S80

Calls cannot be answered

Hey folks, I've been having a weird issue with my 2010 Volvo S80 running on Gasoline. Recently, I've noticed I can't answer any calls using the hands-free system. My hunch is there might be something wrong with the microphone in the hands-free setup. Has anyone else out there experienced this with their Volvo? How did you go about nailing down the problem and what did your workshop do to fix it? Appreciate any advice or shared experiences. Cheers!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my 2008 Volvo XC90 Diesel. It turned out my infotainment system was shot. I gotta admit, I ain't no car mechanic, probably got low experience at best. I took it to my local workshop, blokes there know their job well. Paid about 815 Euro to get the entire system replaced. And hey, it worked like a charm. By the way, to give you more precise advice, could you share some extra info about your S80? Like its mileage, any previous issues with the electronics, that sorta stuff? Cheers!

Hey there, appreciate the advice! Ah, it didn't even cross my mind that it could be the infotainment system itself, so that's a good shout. To answer your query, my Volvo S80 is sitting at 154906 km and apart from this, I haven't had any major issues with the electronics. Last service was around 150k km and they didn't find anything out of the ordinary. I definitely learned my lesson here to keep an eye on the infotainment system. I'll get that checked out at my local workshop. Thanks again for the help!

Hey again! Your S80 is in a pretty good state seeing the mileage. I reckon my problem was more due to the XC90 being Diesel. Electronics can be fiddly with it. But yeah, given your last service didn't find anything odd and you're not having any other electronic issues elsewhere, I'd definitely suggest having a look at the infotainment system, just like in my case. The blokes at the workshop should be able to diagnose it properly. Hope you won't be set back as much as I was. Keep us updated, always good to learn from each other's experiences. Cheers!

Hey, thanks again for your insight! Diesel or Gasoline, looks like the infotainment system can throw a curveball either way. I'll get the blokes at my workshop to give it a thorough check. If it ends up being the same issue you faced, I'm prepared to shell out to get it fixed. At the end of the day, it's about safety, right? I'll definitely share an update with you all once we diagnose the problem. Cheers to this community for always looking out for each other! Have a good one!
