(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Renault Talisman owner is experiencing starting difficulties and suspects a malfunction in the main relay of the engine control unit. Another individual with a similar issue in a Renault Megane confirmed that a faulty main relay was the cause, which required replacement and resetting of the engine control unit. The repair was not overly costly, and the problem was resolved without further issues. The Talisman owner plans to consult a mechanic for a similar solution.

Thank you for your quick reply. That's a bit reassuring to hear. Do you remember how much it cost you to replace the relay and reset the engine control unit? And have you had any other unexpected problems since then? Thanks for the help!

Hey, sure, I can remember. So, I paid €120 for the repair of the defective main relay. But that was it. Since the visit to the mechanic, everything has been running like clockwork again. The malfunction of the main relay of the engine control unit was then rectified and I haven't had any more surprises or similar problems since then. Hope that eases your worries a little!

Great, thanks for the info! I'm really relieved! 120€ doesn't sound too expensive at first. The important thing is that I can start my car again afterwards without any problems. Thank you for your help. I will now make an appointment with my mechanic and hope that everything will work again in my Renault Talisman. See you then and drive safely!

Hey, I drive a Renault Megane (diesel, built in 2016) and had the same problem some time ago. It was definitely a faulty main relay. At my mechanic they had to replace the relay and reset the engine control unit. It was a bit complicated because they had to find the old relay and replace it, but other than that it wasn't a life-threatening problem for my car. Just stressful because my car wouldn't start either. Hope that helps you a bit!
