Renault Kadjar Diesel 2015: Noticeable symptoms and suspicion of boost pressure control - exchange of experience wanted

Hey guys, I'm worried about my 2015 Renault Kadjar Diesel with pretty much 38767km on the clock. Last time at the mechanic was a disaster and now my car is showing all kinds of signs again: black smoke when accelerating, check engine light on, lost engine power, jerking when accelerating, loud hissing and whistling when accelerating. Added to this are poor fuel consumption and a strong exhaust smell. I suspect that something is wrong with the boost pressure control. Has anyone already had similar problems with their car and perhaps also had experiences with the workshop that need to be taken into account? I would appreciate your tips and experiences.

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Renault Kadjar Diesel is experiencing issues such as black smoke, check engine light, loss of engine power, jerking, loud hissing and whistling noises, poor fuel consumption, and a strong exhaust smell. These symptoms suggest a potential problem with the boost pressure control. A similar case involved an electrically faulty boost pressure regulator, which required replacement to resolve the issues. It is advised to have the car checked by a mechanic promptly to prevent further complications.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2012 Renault Clio Diesel some time ago. It sounds like your boost pressure regulator is electrically faulty. For me it caused similar symptoms as you describe. Black smoke, lost engine power, a loud hiss and whistle, and of course the check engine light. My mechanic ended up having to replace the boost controller. It was definitely not a small problem. Your car should go to the garage as soon as possible before it causes even bigger problems. Hope this helps you with your problem.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply and the useful info! Do you happen to remember how much the boost pressure regulator cost you? And have you had any other problems since then?

Hey, of course I still remember that. The repair of the boost pressure regulator wasn't exactly cheap, it cost me €1520 (the turbocharger itself had to be replaced). But the good thing is that since I visited the workshop, the problem with the boost pressure control has been solved and there are no further problems. The car is running perfectly again. So I can advise you to do the same. Don't worry about the cost, it will pay off in the long run.

Thanks for the feedback. That reassures me a little and gives me an idea of what to expect. I'd better go straight to the mechanic and have it checked. I just hope it won't be that expensive. But even if it is, it's important that the car runs smoothly again. Hopefully this won't happen to me again in the future. I really appreciate your help and tips!
