Rear window heating defective on 2007 Ford Freestar: experience and tips wanted

Fault stored

Heated windows without function

Hello folks! I have a problem with my 2007 Ford Freestar (gasoline, 143947 km run). The rear window heater has stopped working and according to my car diagnostics there is a fault stored. I think it could be a functional limitation of the rear window heater. Have any of you had similar problems and what was your experience at the garage? I had a bad experience with my mechanic last time.... would be grateful for any tips!

Hey, I once had a similar case with my 2010 Ford Explorer. The heating wires were also defective. I ended up having to go to the garage to replace the rear window because the heating wires are embedded directly in the window. It was a serious issue, but after that I had no more problems and since then the rear window heating has worked perfectly again. Hope that helps you!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! Do you happen to have any idea what you paid for the repair back then? And have you had any other problems with your Ford Explorer since then that might be related to the rear window heater?

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! If I remember correctly, the whole thing cost me €585 because the heating wires were defective. It's a hefty price, of course, but the result was worth it. And since the trip to the mechanic, the functional restriction of the rear window heating was eliminated, so nothing to worry about. So far, I haven't had any other problems with the Ford Explorer that could be related to the rear window heater. Simply a robust car! So I hope you have a similar experience!
