Range Rover Sport engine won't start after stopping in drive

Hello, today I encountered a problem with my 2010 Range Rover Sport. While driving, the engine suddenly stopped and would not start. Before it stopped, the battery light came on. Has anyone else experienced this problem? What could cause this and how could I fix it?

Check the alternator as well, since a failing alternator can cause the battery light to illuminate and lead to the engine stopping. If you have a multimeter, test the alternator output voltage.
