Thanks for sharing that experience! I totally know what you mean about those wiring problems, such a pain to deal with! My cooling system issue turned out similar to yours, but I'm curious, do you remember roughly what you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up? These Range Rovers can be full of surprises sometimes!
Hey again! Just wanted to update you on the outcome, I actually just got my Range Rover back from the mechanic last week. You'll be glad to hear it was worth every penny! They sorted out that pesky wiring harness problem I mentioned, and the coolant thermostat is now working perfectly. The whole thing set me back 110.00 €, pretty reasonable considering all the detailed work they had to do. Since the repair, she's been running like a dream! Engine temperature stays exactly where it should be, and that annoying check engine light hasn't made another appearance. It's such a relief to have it sorted properly. Honestly, I wish I'd gotten it fixed sooner, you know how we sometimes put these things off! But hey, better late than never, right? These Range Rovers might throw us curveballs sometimes, but they're worth the trouble when everything's working properly. Let me know how yours turns out, hope you get it sorted for a decent price too!
Thanks for the follow-up! Actually, I just got my Rover back too. Took it to a specialist mechanic and you wouldn't believe it, it was exactly what you described! The wiring was all messed up, and they found a few other minor issues while they were in there. Cost me a bit more, around 150, but they did a really thorough job. They even showed me the damaged wiring, it was pretty scary to see how close I was to having some serious problems! The mechanic was super helpful, explained everything clearly without trying to oversell anything. Been driving it for a few days now and what a difference! No more temperature warnings, engine's running perfectly, and that annoying check engine light is finally gone. Feels like I'm driving a different car! Really appreciate everyone's advice here, saved me from potentially making the problem much worse. These Range Rovers sure keep us on our toes, but when they're running right, they're amazing machines. Thanks again for all the help!
Hey there! I had similar issues with my 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8. Initially thought it was just the thermostat, but it turned out to be more complex. The wiring harness near the cooling system had deteriorated, causing intermittent electrical issues with the cooling fan control module. The symptoms were identical, engine running hot and check engine light. The mechanic found several damaged wires that were shorting out. It was actually pretty serious since continuous overheating could've led to engine damage if left unchecked. The repair involved replacing sections of the wiring harness and installing new connectors. My garage spent about two days on it since they had to carefully trace all the affected wiring. Definitely needed a specialist who knows Range Rovers well, these electrical issues can be tricky to diagnose. Based on your symptoms, I'd suggest getting it checked soon. While it could be just the thermostat, better to rule out any wiring issues as well. Hope this helps!
