Range Rover Nav System Dead: Repair Tips & Solutions

Navigationssystem is not working

Hi all! Having trouble with my 2020 Range Rover Hybrid (179,615 km). The navigation system completely stopped working, and I suspect it's a communication issue between control modules. After a bad experience with my last mechanic, I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone experienced similar navigation system failures? Would love to hear about your repair experiences and trusted mechanics who fixed this issue. Thanks!

Hi there! I faced a similar issue with my 2018 Range Rover Sport PHEV (similar electrical architecture). The navigation blackout was just the tip of the iceberg. Turned out the CAN BUS system was damaged, affecting communication between multiple modules. My symptoms started with navigation failure, then spread to erratic behavior of the climate control and instrument cluster. Got it fixed at a certified workshop, they had to replace several corroded wiring harnesses and reprogram the affected modules. It was a serious job that took three days to complete properly. CAN BUS issues aren't something you want to mess with using non-specialized shops. These systems are complex and interconnected, one wrong move can cascade into bigger problems. I'd strongly suggest finding a Land Rover certified technician who has experience with hybrid systems. Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing your experience, that really helps! The CAN BUS system issue sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing. My climate control has actually started acting up too just this week. I'm curious, do you remember roughly how much it ended up costing you? And has everything worked perfectly since the repair, or have you noticed any other quirks popping up? Been worried about potential recurring issues with these electronics. Thanks!

Hey again! Great news, I can update you on the whole repair situation! Got my Range Rover Sport PHEV back from the mechanic last week, and I'm happy to report the Message error between the control devices is completely sorted now. They diagnosed it as a CAN BUS issue, just like I suspected. The total bill came to 235.00 € for fixing the damaged communication bus system. Since the repair, everything's working like a charm, navigation's perfect, climate control's behaving, and no more weird error messages popping up on the dash. It's running just like when it was new! I'd definitely say it was worth every penny to get it properly fixed at a specialist. These electrical gremlins can be super annoying, but once they're sorted by someone who knows what they're doing, they tend to stay fixed. Haven't noticed any quirks or issues since the repair, and I've been keeping a close eye on it. Hope this helps with your decision-making! Let me know if you need any other info about the repair.

Thanks so much for the detailed update! I finally bit the bullet and took my Range Rover to a specialist mechanic last week. You were absolutely right about the CAN BUS system, that was exactly what was causing my troubles. The repair took about four days because they had to order some special parts, but wow, what a difference! The navigation is working perfectly now, and those annoying climate control issues have completely disappeared. The bill was a bit higher than yours at 395.00 €, but honestly, it was worth every penny. The mechanic was super professional and even showed me the corroded wiring they replaced. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the confidence to get it properly fixed instead of trying cheaper alternatives that might've made things worse. The car's running beautifully now, like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Thanks again for all your help! Really saved me from a lot of headaches!
