Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it wasn't anything too major. You're right about using the physical key, been doing that as a temporary fix. Do you remember roughly how much the repair set you back? Just trying to get an idea before I head to a specialist. Also, has everything been working smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other quirks? Thanks again for the advice!
Hey again! Happy to give you an update! After getting my Velar fixed at the specialist, I paid 37.50 € for the key fob battery replacement and reprogramming. It was honestly worth every penny, my key's been working like a charm since then. No more frustrating moments in the parking lot trying to lock or unlock the car! It's been about six weeks now, and I haven't had a single issue. The warning light on the dash disappeared right after they fixed it, and the remote locking/unlocking works perfectly every time. Such a relief not having to use the physical key anymore! Totally understand your hesitation about mechanics, but this was actually a pretty straightforward fix. The whole thing took less than an hour, and they explained everything they did. Sometimes the simple solutions really are the right ones! Let me know how it goes when you get yours sorted!
Just wanted to update everyone on my Range Rover situation! Finally got the courage to take it to a specialist mechanic, and I'm so glad I did. You were spot on, it was mainly the key fob causing all the trouble. The whole experience was much better than I expected. Got there early morning, and they diagnosed it right away. Just like your case, needed a new battery and reprogramming. The best part? It only took about 45 minutes, and I was back on the road. The price was reasonable too, pretty close to what you paid. Such a relief to have everything working properly again! No more warning lights on the dash, and the key fob's working perfectly. Feels great not having to fiddle with the physical key anymore. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the decision to get it sorted. Sometimes the simplest solutions really are the best ones!
Hey there! I actually dealt with the exact same issue on my 2016 Range Rover Velar D240 last month. Initially thought it was just a key fob battery problem like yours. Turned out it was a bit more than that, the key fob needed reprogramming along with a new battery. The symptoms were identical, intermittent locking/unlocking and a warning light on the dash. Got it sorted at a shop that specializes in Land Rover diagnostics. The whole thing wasn't really serious, just needed the battery replacement and a quick reprogram of the key to sync properly with the car's system. Quick tip: Try using the physical key hidden inside your fob to unlock the door manually in the meantime. There's usually a small release button on the fob to access it. Hope this helps!
