Thanks for sharing your experience! My Range Rover has done 143506 KM, and last service was just two months back. I've noticed the symptoms are definitely worse when the engine is cold, especially in the morning. It takes a good 10-15 minutes of driving before it starts running somewhat smoother, but even then, it's not performing like it should. That price for the sensor replacement sounds reasonable, I was worried it might be something more serious and costly. Did you notice any warning messages on your dashboard besides the check engine light? I'm getting a bit anxious about driving it like this.
Hey again! Thanks for the additional info, that definitely helps paint a clearer picture. Yeah, my Evoque had pretty much the exact same behavior, especially with that cold-start roughness. Mine had done about 130000 KM when this happened. In my case, besides the check engine light, I occasionally got a "Reduced Engine Performance" message on the dash, not sure if you're seeing that too? I actually drove it like that for about two weeks before getting it fixed (probably shouldn't have, but you know how it goes), and the symptoms just got gradually worse. Just a heads up, when they replaced my sensor, they also cleaned the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor while they were at it, since they're right next to each other. Might be worth asking your workshop about that too. The whole job took them less than an hour. Since you mentioned yours is worse in the morning, that's exactly how mine behaved, it would shake like crazy for the first few minutes. After the fix, that morning roughness completely disappeared. Amazing how such a small part can cause so much trouble, right? Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out!
Thanks so much for all that detailed info! It's really reassuring to hear your experience was so similar to what I'm dealing with. And yes, I do get that "Reduced Engine Performance" message occasionally! I was wondering about the MAF sensor too, so it's good to know they can check both while they're in there. I've just booked the car in for tomorrow morning, figured I shouldn't risk driving it like this for too long. Your experience has made me feel much more confident about it just being the sensor and not something more serious. Will definitely get them to look at both the intake temp and MAF sensors. Really appreciate you taking the time to share all this, it's so helpful hearing from someone who's been through the exact same thing. I'll let you know how it goes after the workshop checks it out tomorrow! Fingers crossed it's as straightforward a fix as yours was.
Hey there! I have some experience working on cars, and I actually faced a really similar issue with my 2020 Range Rover Evoque Hybrid last year. The symptoms you're describing are exactly what I experienced, sluggish acceleration, poor fuel economy, and rough running. Took it to my regular workshop and yep, it was indeed a faulty intake air temperature sensor. The repair was pretty straightforward, they replaced the sensor, which set me back about 155 Euro, but it fixed all those issues completely. The car's been running like a charm since then. Just to help you better, could you share some more details about your car? Like the exact engine size and how many miles/kilometers you've done? Also, have you noticed if these symptoms get worse when the engine is cold or warm?
