Jerking on acceleration

Hey everyone! Having trouble with my 2021 Range Rover Hybrid. Engine's acting up, power loss, rough idling with shaking and stalling, plus jerking during acceleration. Check engine light is on too. I suspect it might be the tank ventilation system. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Would love to hear about your repair experiences and what the actual issue turned out to be. What did your workshop do to fix it? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I've got some experience with hybrid SUVs, and your symptoms sound quite familiar. I had similar issues with my 2019 Range Rover Sport Hybrid last year. Since we're talking about similar Range Rover models, I might be able to help! Had the exact same symptoms, power loss, shaking, and that annoying jerking during acceleration. Took it to my trusted workshop, and it turned out the ventilation hoses needed replacement. The fix cost me 175 Euro, and it solved all those issues completely. Before I share more specific details though, how many miles/kilometers are on your vehicle? Have you noticed any unusual sounds from the engine bay? When did these symptoms first start? This info would help me give you more relevant advice based on my experience. Range Rovers can be tricky, but usually, these issues have straightforward solutions!

Thanks for your response! My Range Rover has 56034 KM on the clock, and it's been regularly serviced, last maintenance was just done. To answer your questions, I've noticed a slight whistling sound from the engine bay, and these issues started about a week ago, getting progressively worse. The jerking during acceleration is particularly concerning, especially since it's a relatively new car. I'm hoping it's just the ventilation system like in your case, as that seems like a straightforward fix. Did your mechanic mention any other potential causes they ruled out during the diagnosis? The price you mentioned for the fix sounds reasonable. Were there any other related parts they recommended replacing while they were at it? Just want to be prepared for what to expect when I take it in.

Hey again! Thanks for the extra details about your Range Rover. Yeah, that whistling sound you mentioned, I had that too! It's actually what made my mechanic zero in on the ventilation system right away. When they diagnosed mine, they initially suspected a few other things, like fuel injectors and throttle body issues, but the ventilation system was the culprit. My mechanic did a smoke test that confirmed it. The funny thing is, I was worried it would be something major, but it turned out to be relatively simple. Actually, while they were at it, they recommended replacing the purge valve too, cost me an extra 85 Euro, but I figured better safe than sorry. The whole thing took about 3 hours to fix, and my Range Rover's been running like a dream since then. Just hit 70k kilometers last week! Quick tip though, after they fixed mine, they mentioned these issues often start with the ventilation hoses getting brittle over time, even in newer models like ours. They suggested keeping an eye on them during regular maintenance to catch any issues early. Let me know how it goes when you take it in! Really curious if it turns out to be the same issue as mine.

Thanks so much for all this detailed info, it's super helpful! The whistling sound being a telltale sign really gives me hope it's the same issue you had. I'll definitely ask them about doing that smoke test you mentioned, and I appreciate the heads-up about the purge valve too. Makes total sense to replace it while they're in there. It's actually a relief to hear that what seemed like major symptoms turned out to be something relatively straightforward to fix. Really glad I reached out here, you've saved me a lot of worry! I've got an appointment booked for tomorrow morning, and I'll make sure to mention everything you've told me. I've been stressing about this for days, but now I'm feeling much more confident about getting it sorted. I'll post an update once it's fixed to let you know if it was indeed the same problem. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's been incredibly helpful!
