Hey, thanks so much for sharing your experience! My Range's issues sound exactly like what you went through. I'm actually really relieved to hear it was "just" the cable harness and not the modules themselves. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the whole repair set you back? And has everything been running smoothly since the fix? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and whether it's a lasting solution. These electrical gremlins can be such a pain, but it's good to know there's hope!
Hey again! Happy to give you an update! After getting it fixed last month, my Rover's been running like a dream, no more electrical gremlins whatsoever! The whole control system is now working perfectly, and all the communication issues between modules are completely sorted. The final bill came to 155.00 € for fixing the cable connection between the control unit and the BUS system. Honestly, considering how many problems it was causing, I think it was money well spent. They basically had to repair the connections and make sure everything was properly communicating again. And yes, it's definitely been a lasting solution! No more unusual warning lights, the nav system works perfectly, and the speedometer's back to normal. I can't tell you how nice it is to drive without constantly worrying about what electrical issue might pop up next! Trust me, once you get this sorted, you'll feel like you've got a completely different car. Let me know how it goes when you get yours fixed!
Thanks so much for all the details! I actually just got my Rover back from the mechanic yesterday, and wow, what a difference! The technician found exactly what you mentioned, corroded wiring in the harness that was messing with all the electronics. It cost me a bit more than yours at 180 € since they had to replace a few extra connectors, but honestly, it was totally worth it. You were spot on about it feeling like a different car! Everything's working perfectly now, no more Christmas tree dashboard, navigation's back up, and all those annoying electrical warnings have disappeared. The mechanic was super thorough and even showed me the damaged parts they replaced. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it helped me feel much more confident about getting it fixed instead of just living with the problems. Here's hoping both our Rovers stay trouble-free for a good long while!
Hey there! I had nearly identical issues with my '05 Range Rover Sport TDV8. The symptoms you're describing match what I experienced, total nav failure and multiple electrical warnings. Took it to the garage last month. Turned out the main cable harness connecting the control modules to the BUS system was corroded and had several damaged wires. The poor connection was causing communication failures between different modules. The fix involved replacing the entire cable harness assembly and reprogramming the control modules to restore proper communication. It was a serious job that took two days to complete, but it solved all the electrical issues completely. These symptoms typically point to wiring/connection problems rather than actual module failures. Based on my experience, I'd strongly recommend having the cable harness checked first before replacing any modules. Hope this helps!
