Thanks for your detailed response! I did double-check and there aren't any warning lights on my dash, which makes it even more puzzling. The brake just stopped working suddenly during my last drive. I haven't noticed any weird sounds before this happened either. Just for context, I'm pretty regular with maintenance, had my last service at 91,329 KM and everything was fine then. This is actually my first real issue with the car since I got it. Really hoping it's not as serious as a caliper motor replacement, but your experience gives me a good idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise. Going to try that manual release procedure you mentioned tonight, thanks for that tip! Will probably still need to get it checked out professionally though, just to be safe.

In my case, I actually had some weird grinding noises for about a week before it completely failed, but yours just stopped out of the blue. Since you're not getting any warning lights, it could actually be something simpler, like a blown fuse or an electrical connection issue. Mine was definitely the caliper motor, but I kind of wish I'd checked the fuse box first before jumping to conclusions and spending all that money! If you're comfortable with basic car stuff, maybe check fuse #14 in the main fuse box (should be labeled "EPB" or "Electronic Parking Brake"). Thanks so much for the follow-up! You've actually made me feel a bit more optimistic about this whole situation. I'll definitely check that fuse you mentioned before taking it in, honestly hadn't even thought about checking the fuses! Would be amazing if it turns out to be something that simple. The manual release worked perfectly, by the way. Found the procedure in the manual just where you said it would be. At least now I'm not stuck with an immobile car while figuring this out! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and all these helpful tips. I'll check the fuse box tomorrow morning and will probably still book it in for a check-up just to be on the safe side. After hearing about the differences between my situation and yours (especially the lack of grinding noise), I'm actually feeling hopeful it might not be as serious as I first thought. Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2017 Range Rover Sport last year. I'm a hobby mechanic with some experience working on cars, but EPB issues are pretty complex. My brake caliper's electric motor died completely, same symptoms as yours, no response when pressing the switch. Took it to my trusted workshop where they diagnosed the faulty motor in the caliper. The repair set me back about 505 Euro, including parts and labor. They had to replace the entire motor unit. Before I can give you more specific advice, could you tell me if you're getting any warning lights on the dash? Also, have you noticed any unusual noises from the rear brakes before it stopped working? These details would help determine if you're facing the same issue I had. By the way, if you need a temporary fix, most Range Rovers (including the Sport and Velar) have a manual release procedure, might be worth checking your owner's manual if you're stuck.
