Thanks for sharing your experience, it's really helpful to hear similar stories! Mine sounds exactly like what you went through with your Sport. I'm definitely going to look for a proper Range Rover specialist to sort this out. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the BCM replacement and rewiring? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the repair, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks popping up?
Hey there! Following up on your questions about the repair costs, yeah, in my case, the BCM issue was actually quite a headache but got sorted properly. By the way, I'm happy to report that after my latest visit to the mechanic, they also fixed the interior light problem that was bugging me, that was another 85.00 € on top of the previous work, but worth every penny as it was driving me nuts! As for the BCM replacement and rewiring you asked about, the total came to around 1,200 € including parts and labor. Pretty steep, I know, but that's Range Rover electronics for you! The good news is that since getting everything fixed, the car's been running like a dream. No more electrical gremlins whatsoever, nav system, audio, lights, everything's working perfectly. Trust me, once you get it sorted with a proper specialist, you'll be much happier. These cars can be finicky with their electronics, but when everything's working right, they're fantastic to drive. Keep us posted on how you get on with yours!
Thanks so much for the detailed info! Just got back from the specialist mechanic actually. You were spot on about everything, turned out it was indeed the BCM causing all the trouble. The mechanic found some really shoddy wiring work from my previous service, which definitely didn't help. Got it all sorted now though! Ended up costing me a bit more than yours, around 1,500 € total because they had to fix some additional damage from the previous mechanic's work. But honestly, what a difference! Everything's working perfectly now, the nav, audio, all the interior lights, the whole lot. Really glad I took your advice and went to a specialist instead of returning to my old mechanic. Lesson learned about trying to save money on maintenance! The car feels like new again, and I'm just relieved to have all those electrical gremlins sorted. Thanks again for helping me dodge what could've been an even bigger headache!
I had a similar issue with my 2014 Range Rover Sport TDV6. The symptoms were nearly identical, interior lights, nav, and audio all died simultaneously. Turned out the main electrical control module was faulty and had a damaged wiring harness. When I took it to the garage, they diagnosed it as a BCM (Body Control Module) failure. They had to replace the module and rewire some connections. It wasn't a quick fix, had to leave the car at the shop for a couple days, but it resolved the problem completely. This is actually quite a serious issue as it affects multiple vehicle systems. In my case, it started right after getting some routine maintenance done elsewhere. The damaged wiring was traced back to improper work during that service. I'd suggest having it checked by a Range Rover specialist rather than a general mechanic. These electrical systems are pretty complex and need someone who really knows the brand.
