Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Would you mind telling me how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also, curious if you've had any other GPS-related issues pop up since then? Good to know it was just the antenna in your case gives me some hope it won't be a huge repair bill!
Hey again! Happy to give you an update! After getting it fixed at the dealership, I haven't had a single GPS problem it's working perfectly now. The repair was pretty straightforward, just like I thought. Total bill came to 200€ for replacing the faulty GPS antenna. They found the same issue as mine water damage and corrosion in the connector. Trust me, you'll be relieved once it's fixed. I can finally use navigation without any problems! My Q50's GPS has been rock-solid since the repair, no other issues whatsoever. It's been about a year now, and the system works just like new. The price I paid seems pretty reasonable considering it's a dealership job. They definitely knew what they were doing, so I'd say it was money well spent. If your problem is similar to what I had (and it sure sounds like it), you shouldn't be looking at anything too crazy expense-wise. Let me know how it goes when you get yours fixed!
Thanks so much for all the details! I actually just got back from the mechanic today. You were spot on it was the same exact issue with water damage to the antenna. I ended up going to the Infiniti dealership like you suggested, and I'm really glad I did. The whole thing cost me 225 € a bit more than what you paid, but still reasonable. They had it fixed in about 2.5 hours. The mechanic showed me the old antenna, and yeah, it was pretty corroded. They also gave the whole system a quick check to make sure there wasn't any other damage. The GPS is working perfectly now tested it on my way home. Such a relief to have the navigation working again! Really appreciate your help with this. It saved me from stressing too much about what could've been wrong and probably saved me some money too by pointing me in the right direction. Thanks again for sharing your experience. It really helped!
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2017 Infiniti Q50 diesel last year. The GPS signal completely died on me too. Took it to the dealership since my regular mechanic wasn't familiar with Infiniti's GPS systems. Turned out the antenna connector was corroded and water had gotten into the assembly. It wasn't a major repair just needed a new GPS antenna module and some resealing work. The whole thing took about 2 hours at the shop. If you're near any Infiniti dealership, I'd recommend going there first for a diagnosis. They've got the right diagnostic tools for these systems. In my case, it wasn't a serious issue, just an annoying one that needed proper attention. My advice: Don't wait too long to get it checked. Water damage to the antenna can spread to other electronic components if left unchecked. Hope this helps!
