Proudia Hybrid's Mystery: Power Loss & Idle Issues Solved

Jerking on acceleration

Stalling while idling

Hi! Need help with my 2016 Mitsubishi Proudia Hybrid. The car's acting up with multiple issues, engine power drops, jerks during acceleration, and shakes/stalls at idle. Check engine light is also on. I suspect it might be a faulty tank vent valve. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Looking for real experiences with repairs and how your workshop resolved it. What was the actual problem and repair cost? Thanks in advance.

Hey there! I have some experience with cars and dealt with very similar symptoms on my 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (also looked at the Eclipse Cross before buying). Had those exact same issues, power loss, jerking, and rough idling. Turned out some vacuum hoses were cracked and needed replacement. My local workshop sorted it out for €175, and it fixed everything. The check engine light went away too. Before jumping to conclusions about the tank vent valve though, could you share: How many miles/km on your Proudia? When did these symptoms start? Any unusual sounds when starting the car? This might help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same problem I had. Let me know these details and I can share more specific info about my repair experience!

Hey, thanks for the detailed response! My Proudia's at 79819 KM, and just had its service last month. The symptoms started about two weeks ago, first with slight jerking that got worse over time. No weird sounds at startup, but it does feel a bit rough when cold. Your vacuum hose diagnosis sounds interesting, definitely cheaper than replacing the tank vent valve! Did your Outlander also have that slight hesitation before the power loss kicked in? Just trying to compare if we're looking at the same issue here.

Hey again! Yeah, your symptoms sound really similar to what I experienced with my Outlander PHEV. That hesitation before power loss? Totally had that too, it was like the car would pause for a split second before lurching forward, especially when I was trying to accelerate from low speeds. You know what's interesting? My issues also started gradually, just like yours. First it was just that slight hesitation, then it got worse over time. With 79K on your clock, you're actually pretty close to where I was when my problems started (I was around 82K). The vacuum hose issue I had turned out to be such a relief, I was honestly worried it might be something way more expensive. When they found those cracked hoses, they were basically deteriorating from heat exposure. Pretty common issue in these Mitsubishis, apparently. Quick tip though, while my fix was straightforward, might be worth getting them to check your fuel pressure regulator too while they're at it. When they were fixing my Outlander, they noticed mine was starting to go as well, and it can cause similar symptoms. Better to catch these things early, right? Let me know how it goes with your Proudia. Always interested to hear if it's the same fix across different models!

Thanks for all that great info! That's super helpful, especially knowing the similarity with the hesitation symptoms. It's actually really reassuring to hear your experience was so similar, and the fix wasn't too expensive. I'll definitely get those vacuum hoses checked out first, and thanks for the heads up about the fuel pressure regulator, smart thinking to check that while they're in there. I've actually just booked my Proudia in at the local workshop for tomorrow morning. Gonna show them your feedback about the vacuum hoses and ask them to take a look at the fuel pressure regulator too. Really hoping it'll be a similar fix to yours, would be a relief compared to replacing the tank vent valve! I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience!
