Problems with weak battery and flickering lights in Peugeot 108 petrol engine, year of manufacture 2015: experience and tips wanted

Dim or flickering lights

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hey guys, I'm having a few problems with my 2015 Peugeot 108 petrol car. When starting, the battery is often weak and the lights flicker or are dimmed. I suspect that the battery is heavily discharged due to self-discharge. Has anyone had similar experiences and can give me tips on how to isolate the problem? I'm particularly interested in how the garage fixed it for you. Thanks in advance!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Peugeot 206, also had a flickering light like this, but it was actually a faulty ECU, not the battery. I don't have much car knowledge, I would describe myself as someone with little experience. I took the car to the garage and they checked it out straight away and diagnosed it. It cost me a hefty €600, which wasn't exactly cheap, but after that the problem was gone. Could you perhaps give some more details about your car? That would be helpful for further tips.

Moin moin, thanks for your reply. Yes, they have just carried out an inspection on my Peugeot 108, at 65998 km. Maybe an electrical part is defective or something. But I really don't have a visit to the garage on the cards right now... I really can't spare the money right now. Well, let's see. If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.

Hey, you're welcome. I understand that you're not enthusiastic about spending even more money in the garage. In my case, the inspection didn't actually reveal anything, the problem occurred afterwards. Maybe your battery is discharging due to a leak or something. I once heard that disconnecting the battery and restarting it could help. If you have a charger, you could also try charging the battery outside the car. I know that's not the best solution, but it might help. Otherwise, just get a quote from an independent garage, they are often cheaper than authorized workshops. Good luck with that!

Hey, thanks for the advice. I think I'll try the battery thing first. I don't have a charger, but a good friend of mine does, so I'm sure I can borrow one. If that doesn't work, a visit to the workshop will probably be unavoidable. I'll see if I can find a cheap independent workshop near me. Thanks again for your help, I'll go through with it now and hope it works out. See you guys!
