Problems with VW Tiguan Diesel 2018: Engine light, poor cold start and loss of power

Hello everyone, I have a strange problem with my VW Tiguan Diesel built in 2018. The engine light comes on, it starts badly on cold start, has a loss of power, twitches when accelerating, sometimes doesn't start at all and fuel consumption is also high. I suspect it might have something to do with the cruise control, but I'm not sure. Has anyone had similar problems and could give me tips on how they got it fixed in the workshop? Would love to hear your experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a 2017 VW Passat Diesel and had a similar problem. As someone with little car knowledge, I was pretty lost. So I took it to the garage. They found that the injector was faulty. It cost 515 euros to fix it at the time. It wasn't cheap, but my car has been running perfectly ever since. Could you please give more details about your car? Mileage, service history or has any work been done on it recently? It might go into more detail and help diagnose your problem better.

Hello, thanks for the quick reply. My Tiguan has about 34900 km on it. The last time I had it serviced was about 6 months ago. No major work has been done on the car since then. Hope this info helps!

Thanks for the details, that helps a little. As I said, I'm not a mechanic, but it sounds like the typical symptoms of a faulty injector or a malfunction in the cruise control system. In my Passat, the injector was the problem. The symptoms were similar - the engine light was on, starting in the cold was difficult and I also had a loss of power when accelerating. As your car is relatively new and you've only recently had it serviced, I would recommend taking it back to the garage. It could also be due to a fault in the engine management system. You can find this out quickly with a diagnosis. It's important not to take this lightly. A check of the engine light can indicate many different problems, and it is better to fix this problem as soon as possible to avoid major damage. Hope this helps you!

Hello, thank you for your detailed reply and recommendation. This advice sounds sensible and I will definitely not wait and see, but take the car to the garage tomorrow. Hopefully it's something that's easy to fix and not too expensive. I will then report back to you here what the problem actually was. Thank you again and have a nice day!

Hi everyone, I have a 1999 Golf 4 1.6 SR and have the following engine errors: 1. Idle control P0215 (Fuel, exhaust and cooling category) Does anyone know what exactly that could be? 2. Power steering pressure switch: Where exactly can I find the switch? 3. Hall sensor (Electrical): Where is the hall sensor located? I would be very happy about a feedback.

For the idle control error P0215, start by checking the idle air control valve for any blockages or faults, as this could affect idle performance. The power steering pressure switch is typically located on the power steering pump or the high-pressure line. As for the hall sensor, it is usually found near the camshaft or crankshaft, depending on the engine design. Make sure to inspect these components for any visible damage or loose connections. Let me know if you need further assistance or have any updates!
