Problems with transmission and warning light on Citroen C2 model year 2008: Possible defect in the transmission oil pressure sensor

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Grinding noise when shifting gears

Transmission slips/shifts erratically

Hello folks! I've recently started having a few problems with my 2008 gasoline Citroen C2. The gearbox jumps irregularly and I hear a grinding noise when changing gear. My speedometer also shows a warning light. I suspect that the gearbox oil pressure sensor is faulty. Have any of you ever had similar problems and can give me a tip as to what exactly it could be? I would also like to know how you fixed it in the workshop and what your experiences were. Thanks in advance!

Hi. You won't believe this, but I had a similar problem with my 2006 Citroen C4. So, quite close to your model year and just a bit different in the series. I'm definitely not a car mechanic, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. My car had exactly the same problem. I went to the garage and they found that my transmission control unit was faulty. The bill was pretty hefty, I paid 1000 euros. It would be really helpful if you could give a few more details about your car. How many kilometers have you driven? Were there any noticeable problems or warning signs beforehand? The more information, the better I might be able to help you. Keep at it, we'll get it sorted!

Hey, thanks for your answer! My C2 already has 196082 km on the clock. So far the car has actually run quite well, apart from the usual little things that always crop up. There were no particular problems at the last inspection, but that was a while ago. Your experience sounds really bad, I hope it won't be that expensive for me. Do you have any ideas, because you've had this before, whether there's a way to fix the problem yourself? Or should I leave it to the professionals?

Hey, with that many kilometers, it's quite possible that some parts are simply worn out. I understand your concerns about the cost, believe me, I was just as shocked as you! If you know a bit about cars and have the confidence, you could maybe take a look at the transmission oil pressure sensor. However, I have to say right away that this could be really difficult without the right tools and specialist knowledge. Such parts are often very hidden and difficult to access. In the case of a major fault, such as a defective transmission control unit, I would definitely leave it to the professionals. Nevertheless, I would recommend that you go to a garage and have the fault diagnosed in detail first. Only then can you really assess the extent of the problem. It could also be a little easier to solve without having to repair or replace the whole gearbox. In any case, good luck, I hope it won't be too expensive! Stay tuned and let us know how it turns out.

Hi, thanks for the advice! I've already done a bit of work on my car, but I'm rather careful with important parts like the gearbox. Because if something goes wrong, it just ends up being even more expensive... It's best if I go to the garage and have a specialist look at it. There's probably nothing left to do but replace or repair it. Hopefully I won't get hit as hard as you did with the 1000 euros. Well, let's see what awaits me. Thanks again and I'll get back to you as soon as I know anything new.
