Loss of engine power

Hi guys, my 2015 Toyota Yaris Diesel is really struggling at the moment. It smokes black when accelerating, the engine light comes on, the engine power decreases and the whole thing just feels unstable. It also pulls when accelerating, there is a loud hissing noise and it just dies at idle. Does anyone have experience with problems like this and can help me? I suspect it's a problem with the charging system, but I'm not sure. How have others solved this problem in the workshop? I look forward to hearing your experiences and advice.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Toyota Auris diesel. So, I'm no expert but I have a bit of experience and could help you a bit. I took the car to my local garage. They found that there was mechanical damage to my turbocharger, which was causing these symptoms. The repair cost me 1070 euros. Has your car been running strangely recently or were there any signs? Detailed information about your vehicle could be useful to help you further. Let us know a little more so we can help you better!

Hey, thanks for your reply! Actually my car has been driving a bit strange lately, but I didn't think much of it and continued to use it normally. I did the last inspection at 43514 KM, maybe that's the reason. I'll take your advice and take it to the garage to have it checked out. Hopefully it won't be too expensive!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for. It sounds like you have a similar case to mine. It could definitely be your turbocharger like it was mine, especially if you have the same symptoms. I'm not trying to scare you, just being honest - it could be expensive if it's the turbocharger. But it's better to get it fixed now before it gets worse and you have to spend even more money. The joy of driving is also lost if the car doesn't run properly. So, off to the garage I would say and please let me know what comes out. Keep your fingers crossed that it's nothing serious!

Hi, I really appreciate your advice. I will definitely visit my garage and get it checked. It sounds like a major repair, but I also think it's better to fix it now than have more problems later. I just hope it won't be too expensive. Just goes to show me again how important regular inspections are. I will definitely keep you guys posted. Thanks again for the help!
