Problems with Toyota GT86: check engine light, loss of power and unstable engine

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Stalling while idling

Shaking while idling

Jerking on acceleration

Unsteady engine

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Toyota GT86 (year of manufacture 2017, gasoline engine). The check engine light comes on, along with problems such as loss of engine power, unsteady engine, jerking during acceleration, stalling at idle and shaking at idle. It occurred to me that the tank ventilation valve could be faulty. Have any of you had similar symptoms with your GT86 and could possibly help? How did you solve the problem? What experiences have you had with the garage? I look forward to your tips and experiences. Thank you in advance!

Hey, had a similar problem with my Toyota Supra (built in 2015, gasoline engine). Only have some experience with cars. My hoses were clogged. Had to go to the garage and it cost me 175.0 euros. Workers were pretty good and quick. A little more information would be useful. What code does your OBD-II scanner show when the check engine light is on? Hopefully this can help you!

Hey, thanks for the input. Well, unfortunately I don't have an OBD-II scanner at hand, but I will get one and check the code. By the way, my GT86 already has 100279 KM on the clock and the last time it was serviced was 3 months ago. Maybe it really is time to check the hoses. Hopefully it won't cost that much. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem! Yes, that sounds like a good idea to get an OBD-II scanner. This device can help you identify exactly what car problem you have. At 100279km it may just need a service, but checking the condition of the hoses can never hurt. Hopefully you don't get ripped off at the garage. Maybe try to get an estimate before they start the work. If it's the tank vent valve, it shouldn't be too expensive. Good luck!

Hey, good advice. Yeah, you're right, it definitely makes sense to get an estimate first. Hopefully the cost won't be too high if it really is just the tank vent valve. I will definitely get an OBD-II scanner and see what it spits out. Your help was really great, thanks!
