Problems with Toyota Etios petrol engine 2016: engine light, rough running and increased fuel consumption

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Poor fuel economy

Unsteady engine

Hi guys, I've recently started having some strange problems with my 2016 Toyota Etios petrol car. The engine light is on, the engine power has decreased, the engine runs rough, it jerks when accelerating and fuel consumption has also increased. I suspect that it could be the intake air temperature sensor. Have any of you ever had a similar fault and can you give me any troubleshooting tips? I would be interested to know how you have had the problem rectified in a workshop and what your experiences have been. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello, I have had a similar problem with my 2014 Toyota Corolla. I'm more of a hobby mechanic, so not a professional, but I do have some experience. My workshop discovered that my electronic control unit was faulty. It turned out that the problem was the engine control unit. The repair cost me €1000, which is a pretty hefty price. Can you give me some more information about your car? How many kilometers has it done and when was your last service? Maybe then I can help you a little more precisely. Greetings.

Hey, thanks for your reply. My Etios has already done 88324 km and the last service was recently. The symptoms appeared after the service, which is quite irritating. But your answer gives me a good clue, I'll check the electronic evaluation system. Did that help you immediately? Thanks again, regards

Hey, I'm glad I could help you. Yes, after the evaluation electronics were replaced on my Corolla, all the problems went away. Maybe it's a similar case for you, although it's strange that the problems occurred just after a service. Of course, it could also be that something wasn't done properly during the service. Maybe a sensor wasn't connected properly or something... Maybe you can have that checked again. Good luck with it and keep us up to date! Regards.

Hey, thanks for the info and your advice. It's really strange that the problems occurred after the service. I'll take your idea on board and see if a sensor may not have been connected correctly during the last service. Hopefully that will solve the problem. I will definitely keep you up to date! Many thanks and best regards.
