Hi, thanks for your reply. My Aygo has 274992 km on it and was last serviced a few months ago. The wrong engine oil could really be a problem. Maybe I should also consider this option and check the oil level. Glad you got away with 175.0 euros. Do you have any other ideas as to what it could be?

Hey, given the mileage and the symptoms, it could also be that the engine is badly worn. The metal splinters indicate heavy wear on engine components, which may also explain why the oil light is on. I would recommend that you go to the workshop immediately without putting any further strain on the engine. It could also be a problem with the engine oil pressure switch, as you suspected. Have it checked by a professional before the damage gets worse. Unfortunately, I can't say much about the costs, as it depends on the exact problem. In my Yaris, it was just the oil and the switch, which wasn't that expensive, but if it's the engine, the costs can rise quickly. So, better act now before it gets worse.

Hello, thank you for your assessment. You're right, given the mileage, heavy wear could be a possibility. Metal splinters in the oil are indeed a bad sign. And your assumption that the engine oil pressure switch could also be the culprit was also my first assumption. Well then, I'll take your advice and drive to the garage immediately. Hopefully the repair costs won't be too high and the damage can still be repaired. Thanks again for your help!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Toyota Yaris, I only have some experience with cars but I had the WRONG engine oil in my engine. I took it to my garage, they drained the oil and put the correct one in. It cost about 175.0 euros. Can you give more information about your car? Maybe I can help you better.
