Good to know that I'm not alone. My Avensis has a gasoline engine and has already done 193957 KM. So the fuel level sensor is just my guess, because from my point of view it's the only thing I haven't checked. But it could be something else, you're right. I'm grateful for any advice!

You've already got a few kilometers on the clock, huh? I had similar symptoms with my Corolla and it was a problem with the wiring harness and not the sensor. The wiring harness can be responsible for problems with the transmission and engine performance. This could explain the jerking and rough running. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to have it checked by a mechanic. I had it done at the garage and it cost about 95 euros at the time. To be honest, I wouldn't put too much stock in my suspicions about the sensor if I were you. Such a sporadic fault is often difficult to find and the search can quickly run into money. Good luck with solving the problem, hopefully it's nothing serious!

Thanks for the detailed advice, really appreciate it! I'll leave the sensor out of the equation for now and look at the wiring harness instead or have it looked at by a specialist. Provided it doesn't tear a big hole in my wallet, that would be a relief. In any case, I'll come back and report what I find out. Thanks again for your time and your experience here. Have a nice day, hopefully without any car problems!

Hey, had similar problem with my 2008 Toyota Corolla. Not an expert, but have a bit of experience with cars. Went to my garage and the reason was wiring harness/plug was faulty. I had it repaired and it cost me 95.0 euros. Are you sure it's the sensor? It could also be something else. What type of engine does your car have? Then maybe I can give you more details.
