Hi, thanks for your quick reply. My Avalon has now done 160269 KM and the last service was about six months ago. It's generally in good condition and has never let me down so far. I guess a visit to the garage is inevitable, right? Your experience has helped me in so far as I know that the coolant system may also be a possible cause. Thanks to you!

Hello again! I'm glad that my answer has helped to shed some light on the subject. So 160,269 KM is no mean feat, your old buddy has quite a bit on the clock, so you have to allow for one or two problems. In any case, it's very commendable that you go for regular servicing, that's incredibly important! With the information you've provided, it really seems as if you can't avoid a visit to the workshop. It could be that the engine has been damaged after all. Believe me, I had the same feeling with my Camry, when you hear something rumbling and scratching, your heart sinks. But cheer up, you'll be fine. Either way, it's better to see what's wrong straight away before it gets even more expensive. Feel free to get in touch if you know more or have any further questions. Good luck and don't hang your head!

Thank you very much for your words and your support, it really helps. It's just frustrating when the box that always got you to work and back home reliably is suddenly causing trouble. But as you say, it's okay, problems are there to be solved. I'll definitely get back to you as soon as I'm back from the garage visit. Thanks again for your help!

Hey buddy, it's a shame that your car is causing such trouble. I had a similar experience with my 2017 Toyota Camry, which is also a petrol engine. I'm not a car mechanic, but I do have some experience in this area. I took my vehicle to the garage because the coolant level was too low. The solution was actually relatively simple: the coolant system was checked and refilled. That cost me 52 euros. Sounds like you have a bigger problem than just a faulty sensor. Maybe it's the engine? Could you share more information about your vehicle, e.g. mileage, general condition, regular service intervals? The more information you provide, the better we can help you. Don't hang your head in shame, someone is sure to have a solution ready.
