Problems with the window regulator in a Renault Scenic (2005) - Suggested solutions and workshop experience

Power windows malfunction

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2005 Renault Scenic with a gasoline engine. My power windows are totally spinning and I suspect that the window regulator malfunction has something to do with it. Have any of you experienced something like this and can give me some tips? How did you solve the problem and what did the garage do? I am grateful for any help!

Hi, not the same car but had a similar problem with my Renault Megane 2003 (only two years older). I'm not a car mechanic, but have some experience as I do a lot of work on my own cars. My window regulator control unit was also broken and no longer worked properly. It was a bit complicated, but I then took my car to my regular garage and they were able to fix it without any problems. It cost me 355 euros. In order to be able to help you more precisely, could you please provide some additional information about your car? Regarding the exact model, mileage, condition of the car, etc. I hope this helps you a little!

Hey, thanks for your answer! My Scenic now has about 53282 km on it. There were no particular problems at the last service. Everything else works fine, it's just the window regulator that has been causing trouble recently. Maybe it's also a control unit thing with me. Your tip definitely helps, thank you! I now have an idea of what I might have to deal with. I didn't think something like this would happen to a relatively new car. Well, at least it's not the engine itself.

Yes, this can happen, especially with cars that have been running for a while. So my experience says that it could actually be your window regulator control unit. I had a similar thing happen in my Renault Megane and I had to have it replaced. What you could also do is try to move the stuck window manually. If the window still doesn't respond, then it really could be the control unit. You should of course have this checked by a specialist garage. The cost of the repair can vary, but you should expect to pay between 300 and 400 euros. Hope that helps you for now! Stay tuned and let us know how it goes.

Hey, great, thanks! Your experience has really helped me. I'll follow your advice and try moving the window manually. If it still doesn't work, then I'll make an appointment at the workshop. I think 300 to 400 euros is fine if it solves the problem. I'll keep you posted and thanks again for the relaxed help! Take care!
