Problems with the tailgate and warning light on the 2019 Skoda Superb petrol engine

Tailgate does not open automatically

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey guys! My 2019 Skoda Superb petrol car is doing some strange things at the moment. The tailgate doesn't open automatically and a warning light comes on in the speedometer. Could it be the tailgate hall sensor? Have any of you had similar problems and can report how this was solved in the workshop? Any experience and tips would be great!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2017 Skoda Octavia Diesel. I'm not a car expert either, but I do have a bit of experience. In my case, however, a line was defective. They repaired it at the garage for 95 euros. Maybe you also have a wiring problem? Can you perhaps tell me what other warnings you noticed on the dashboard or error codes? With this information, I might be able to help you better.

Hey, thanks for your reply. The mileage is currently 16340 km and the last service was very recent. The engine warning light is illuminated on the dashboard. No error code is displayed. Do you think it could be a serious problem? I don't want it to get any more expensive.

It sounds like there could be various causes behind this. The appearance of the engine warning light could indicate an electronics problem. It could also be that it's actually the Hall sensor in the tailgate, as you suspected earlier. There are these OBD2 diagnostic tools that you connect to the OBD2 port of your car. They can read out your car's fault memory and even delete faults. Maybe you can get one of these and do a check? It's often cheaper and quicker than going to the garage. And by the way, don't worry. With the mileage and your current service status, I'm not worried about anything serious. Especially if the performance of your car is otherwise normal. Oh yes, and always remember: even if they are annoying, these warning lights are our friends, they warn us before major problems occur! Everything will be fine, buddy!

Hey, thanks for your advice! I've read about these OBD2 diagnostic tools before, but haven't tried it yet. So I'm going to get one and do the check. You're right, the warning lights are actually our friends! Their "warnings" can actually help us avoid bigger problems. I just hope the repair won't be too expensive. Thanks again for your help!
