Problems with the seat heating in the Renault Avantime built in 2003 - experience and suggestions for solutions wanted

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Renault Avantime, model year 2003, gasoline engine. The heated seats just don't work anymore, has anyone had similar problems with this model? I suspect it could be a failure of the seat heater, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any experience with troubleshooting? How did you get the problem fixed at the garage and what was your experience? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A 2003 Renault Avantime owner is experiencing issues with non-functional heated seats and suspects a failure in the seat heater. Another individual shared a similar experience with a different Renault model, where the problem was traced to a defective seat heating mat, costing 390 euros to repair. The recommendation is to have the vehicle checked at a garage to diagnose the issue accurately and obtain a repair estimate.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hello, I had exactly the same problem with my 2005 Renault Megane, also a gasoline engine. I wouldn't call myself a car expert, rather someone with little experience. I took the car to my regular garage and they discovered that the seat heating mat was defective. I had to pay a total of 390 euros for the repair. Could you tell me a bit more about your car, perhaps also how many kilometers you have already driven? That could help to narrow down the problem. Hope this helps you! Best regards.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My Avantime has almost exactly 50970 km on the clock so far and had its last service just under a year ago. I think the problem occurred independently of that. Hopefully the repair won't be too expensive for me... Best regards back!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! I would also see less of a connection between the number of kilometers and the failure of the seat heating. In my case, it was more of a coincidence that it happened that way. So, it could well be that the seat heating mat is defective. Of course, it's difficult to say how expensive the repair will be for you, but it could be around 390 euros like mine. But to be on the safe side, just take it to the workshop, they will certainly be able to help you and give you an exact price. Best wishes and good luck with the seat heating!

Hello, thank you very much for the detailed answer. That's right, it could actually be the heating mat. I will follow your advice and take the car to the garage for a check-up. Hopefully the costs will remain just as low for me. Thanks again for your help and I wish you all the best! Best regards.
