Problems with the lighting and warning light on Renault Avantime 2002, diesel - experience and solutions wanted

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

|

Error in the lighting

Hi guys, I have a few problems with my Renault Avantime, built in 2002, diesel. It's not behaving properly at the moment. I see an error message in the lights and this ominous warning light in the speedometer is flashing. Could it be that the glow agent is defective? Have you had similar experiences and if so, how did you solve it? What did the guys at the garage do? I would appreciate your tips and advice.

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Renault Scenic 2003, diesel. I'm not a car professional, but I do have a bit of experience. In my case, the headlight control unit was ultimately defective, which had triggered this warning light. I was fed up with it, so I went to my garage and had it repaired. It cost me a total of 630 euros. Maybe it's the same for you. But to be able to help you more precisely, I would need more information about your problem. For example, exactly which error message is displayed and how often this happens. I hope this helps you!

Thanks for the answer. Wow, that sounds like an expensive issue. Good to know that the ECU could also be a problem! It says it's a "problem with the vehicle lighting" and it happens all the time, every time I start the car. At my last inspection 36872 km ago, everything was OK, no problems occurred. Maybe I should take it to my garage too. Any tips on what I should say or ask there?

Hey, yes, that was also a permanent condition for me. Constantly this warning light and then the light fiddling. You can first ask the garage if they can do a fault diagnosis run to determine the exact fault. I did the same. Just tell them that there's an error message with the lighting and describe exactly what's happening and when. You could also ask directly for the headlight control unit, so you might know in advance whether it's the same problem as mine. This is a bit of expensive fun, but could cost you even more problems and money in the future if it really is the problem. With a bit of luck, it could just be a glow agent, fingers crossed! Let me know later what it was, I'd be interested to know. Good luck!

Hello and thanks for the helpful advice! That's right, a fault diagnosis run could really shed some light. I'm assuming that I can talk to them openly about the problems. I would never have thought that the headlight control unit could trigger something like this. Well, maybe it's better to fix something expensive now instead of replacing the whole car later, isn't it? I really hope it's just the glow agent. I'll keep you posted and let you know what it ends up being. Thanks again and have a great day!
