Problems with the indicator light and the engine in Opel Antara: Possible defect in the tank ventilation valve

Hi guys, I have a strange problem with my Opel Antara (built in 2013, gasoline engine). The check engine light comes on, the engine is rough, the car jerks when accelerating and stalls when idling. It also vibrates when idling. I suspect that the tank vent valve may be defective. Has anyone experienced this before and can give me some troubleshooting tips? I am particularly interested in how you have solved the problem in the workshop and what experiences you have had. Many thanks in advance!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Opel Insignia (built in 2011). I'm not an expert on vehicle problems, but at least I have some experience. The indicator light coming on, jerking and vibrating may actually be due to a faulty tank vent valve, I had something similar. At my garage they found that the hoses were clogged. The repair costs amounted to 175.0 euros. To help you more accurately, it would be good to know if your car has any modifications or previous maintenance and special features. Best regards!

Hello, thank you for your reply. My Antara has always been reliable and is unmodified. It has run 67903 km and its last service was recently. The indicator lights came on just after the last service. Next time I will have a look at the tank vent valve. Thanks for the tip about the hoses! Best regards!

Hi, my Insignia had similar symptoms shortly after a service, and it was also the tank ventilation valve. With your mileage, it could well be that the fault lies here. So, it's best to have a look at the hoses and the valve. Have the garage take a thorough look. Sometimes only the hoses are clogged or the valve is stuck, which could be cleaned instead of replaced. Better save yourself the 175.0 euros if you can. Hope this helps you! Best regards!

Hi, your tip is great, thank you! I'll go to the garage next week and ask them to have a good look at the valve and hoses. Hopefully that's the problem and I can save some money. Thanks again for your help, it has really helped me. Best regards!
