Hey, thanks for your quick and helpful reply! My Benz now has a proud 163006 km on the clock. The last inspection was a few months ago and there were no particular problems. Unfortunately, I no longer have a warranty, so it will probably be my fault. I'll take your advice to heart and take it to the garage as soon as possible. Thanks again!

No problem, that's what we're here for, right? Given the mileage, it's quite possible that a defect like this will show up. It's a shame that the warranty no longer applies. But with a heavy heart, I'd say take it to the garage. Maybe they have good news for you and it's less expensive than you thought. If you then have more detailed information, please share it here again. I'm curious to see if it really is the high-voltage system. Keep your fingers crossed!

I had a similar experience with my 2017 Mercedes A-Class. At least it sounds suspiciously similar to your description to me. I wouldn't call myself a professional mechanic, but I do have some experience and understand a few things. In my case, it was also a defect in the high-voltage system, or to be more precise: individual parts of it were broken. I took the car to my trusted garage, they did a comprehensive system check and replaced the broken parts. Believe it or not, I didn't actually pay a cent for it. The car was still under warranty. So, whenever something weird starts happening, take it to the garage straight away before it gets any worse. Could you perhaps give me some more information about your car? Mileage, previous repairs, stuff like that. Maybe then I can help more specifically.
