Problems with the high-voltage system and electrical functions in the 2019 Toyota CHR Electric

Loss of engine power

Weak battery when starting the engine

General electric malfunction

Problem with the HV-System

Hi guys, my Toyota CHR electric from 2019 has been causing problems recently. Seems to be the high voltage system as I'm noticing power loss from the engine. Also the battery is weak when starting and there are general electrical malfunctions. Has anyone had similar experiences or any tips on how I can isolate the problems? I would be particularly interested to know how you have sorted this out at the garage. Thanks for your help and experience!

Hey, I have a 2017 Toyota Prius, a very similar model from Toyota. I don't normally know much about cars, but I once had a similar problem with the high-voltage system. I took the car to the garage, they screwed around and had a look. In my case, it was a defect in individual parts in the high-voltage system. Fortunately, I didn't have to pay for it because it was covered by the warranty. Could you perhaps describe in more detail exactly what problems you have? Maybe I can help you with that.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Specifically, my beloved CHR somehow stutters when accelerating. It just doesn't feel as powerful as I'm used to. The weak battery is also driving me crazy. Every morning when I start it up, the whole car twitches. Funny thing, I've never experienced anything like it. For more info, my CHR has just 99157km on it and the last service was at the official Toyota dealer about 4 months ago. But as I said, I have no idea what could be causing it. I hope this helps you a bit!

Hey, thanks for the more detailed description. It was a similar feeling for me - the car somehow didn't have the necessary power when accelerating. Based on your description, it could actually be a fault in the high-voltage system that is causing these problems. Regarding the low battery: I also had this problem with my Prius, but it was due to the 12V starter battery, which had to be recharged. Next time you start your CHR, listen carefully. If you hear a quick click, it could be the 12V battery. Honestly, I would recommend you take your CHR to the shop as soon as possible. High voltage system issues like this can be complex and it's better to have it checked by professionals. And make sure you have it checked to see if it is still covered by the warranty, as this could save you a lot of money. I hope this information helps you and you get your CHR back on the road soon. All the best!

Thanks again for the support. Yes, you're absolutely right. I think I'll take your advice and take my car to the garage. I did notice a quick click when starting. I think the problem with the battery makes more sense now. Hopefully the high voltage system is still under warranty, that would really help a lot. Thanks for the help and wish you all the best too. Hope to see you on the road when my CHR is running smoothly again!
