Problems with the heating and air conditioning in the Ford Ecosport model year 2014 - experience and solution tips wanted

Air conditioning blows warm air

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

A/C System Not Engaging

Hello everyone! I have a small problem with my Ford Ecosport (year of manufacture 2014, gasoline engine), which worries me quite a bit. The heating/air conditioning system is not working properly, hardly delivers any cool or warm air and sometimes the air conditioning only blows warm air. I suspect something is wrong with the refrigerant compressor, but I'm not sure. Have any of you ever had similar problems and could possibly give me some tips for further troubleshooting? I'm particularly interested in how your garage solved the problem and what your experiences have been. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2012 Ford Focus, so very similar to your Ecosport. I would class myself as someone with some car experience, but definitely not a professional. For me it was the climate control unit (control unit) that was faulty. I went to my garage and had it checked there. They did some troubleshooting and found that the control unit was the problem. I paid 880 euros for the entire repair. In order for me to give you more details, it would be helpful if you could give me more information about your car. For example, if there are any other symptoms or if the problem gets worse when the car is warm. I hope this helps you a little!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! After you mentioned the control unit, it occurred to me that the display on my air conditioning system doesn't work properly from time to time. Sometimes it shows the wrong temperature or flickers. It doesn't necessarily get worse when the car is warm, but it happens more often when I drive longer distances. My last service was at a mileage of 141074 km. I hope this information helps you! And wow, 880 euros is a lot of money. I hope it will be cheaper for me. But thanks again for your advice!

Hey, so you're saying that your display flickers and sometimes shows incorrect temperatures? That sounds very much as if it really is the climate control unit. At least that's the same thing that was going on with me. I also had problems with my display and inaccurate readings before it failed completely. My advice would be to go to a garage as soon as possible and get it checked before it gets any worse. As for the cost, the quicker you get it checked the cheaper it could be, but of course that depends on the garage. If you're lucky, you might have insurance that will cover part of the costs. But I wouldn't wait too long for that either. Sure, 880 euros is a lot of money, but believe me, it's worth it to get this problem sorted out. Good luck to you!

Hi, your answer is very helpful, thank you! It sounds like it really could be the air conditioning control unit. I'll make an appointment at the garage as soon as possible and hope it won't be too expensive. And you're right, I should check my insurance. I was so focused on the problem itself that I didn't even think about it. Hopefully it will cover at least some of the costs. And yes, getting the results you want is definitely very important. Thanks again for your help. You made my day!
