Hi, thanks for your reply. My Golf is now at 15432 km and had its last service about 6 months ago. I think I'll take it to the garage and have it checked to see if the camera or anything else is broken. Hopefully it won't be that expensive, I really don't fancy it. But I'd rather solve the problem now than later when it gets colder.

Hello again! If your Golf is still under warranty, the whole thing should be less painful for your wallet. As a rule, manufacturers cover the repair costs for such defects. I remember that my Passat also needed a software update at the time because the heated side mirrors were also affected by the problem. However, the garage did this at the same time, so it may well be that they also have to update the software for you. And indeed, it's better to solve the problem now than in the middle of winter when you need the heating function the most ;)

Hi, I have some experience with cars, but I'm not a professional. I once had a similar problem with my 2018 VW Passat. My camera was faulty, which oddly enough also affected the heating. I had it checked at my garage and they fixed it. The repair cost me 500 euros. But it always varies depending on the problem and the model. Can you perhaps provide more information about your car? For example, if it's still under warranty or if there are any other problems apart from the heating function? Then I could help you a little more precisely.
