Problems with the headlight range adjustment on Mercedes AMG GT model year 2018

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Low beam and high beam seems too high or too low

Hi everyone, my 2018 Mercedes AMG GT has been experiencing some problems recently. The issue is that the high beam and low beam seem to be either too high or too low. Additionally, I see a warning light on my speedometer. I suspect there may be a problem with the headlight leveling system. Has anyone had similar experiences and can give me some tips? In particular, I would be interested to know how a garage has solved such problems and what your experiences have been. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I drive a 2016 Mercedes CLS 63 AMG and had a similar problem. I only have some experience with cars. At the time I noticed a warning light on me, I also suspected that it could be the headlight leveling system. So I went to my authorized workshop. They then discovered that the headlight control unit was defective. It cost me 630 euros to replace the control unit. It was a bit expensive, but since then the lights have been normal and the warning light has also disappeared. To help you better, it would be helpful if you could share some more information about your car, e.g. whether there are any other symptoms and whether the car has already been to the garage. Hope this helps you!

Thank you for your quick reply and help, I really appreciate it. There are no other symptoms so far. My Mercedes AMG GT was serviced last year, at about 143625 km. I haven't really had any problems since then until this light thing started. I had hoped that I could get away without a workshop visit, but apparently that's what it's going to come down to. Let's see if it's the control unit or something else. 630 euros is pretty hefty, but if it helps, then so be it. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for, to help each other! So if your AMG GT didn't have any problems at the last service, it's pretty unlikely that something major is broken now. It's often small things that can cause such symptoms, such as a faulty sensor or similar. Of course, this is usually not as expensive as a completely new control unit. It could well be that it's just the headlamp leveling system that has become misaligned. If you're lucky, this can be fixed quite quickly and easily in the workshop. So I would advise you not to assume the worst straight away. Just go for an inspection and have the guys take a look. As your model is still fairly new, there shouldn't usually be any major problems with the electronics or anything like that. Until then, drive carefully and maybe you'll see each other on the road! Keep your fingers crossed that it's only a minor issue. Have a safe journey!

Hello, and thanks again for your advice. Yes, you're right, I shouldn't immediately assume the worst. Even if the control unit has to be replaced, the main thing is to get the problem fixed. I'll make an appointment at my garage and hope for the best! I'm sure I'll see you on the road, perhaps with working dipped headlights. Drive safely and see you soon!
