Problems with the headlight cleaning system of a Citroen DS5 Diesel, model year 2012: experiences and troubleshooting

Headlight cleaning system without function

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Citroen DS5 Diesel, built in 2012. The headlight cleaning system no longer works. Could this perhaps also be a fault with the headlight cleaning system? Has anyone had similar problems and could give me some troubleshooting tips? How did you get it solved in the workshop and what were your experiences? Many thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Citroen DS4 Diesel, built in 2010. I'm not a car mechanic, but I have some experience with cars. I took the car to my regular garage. The mechanic found the fault, it was a "defective control unit". The repair cost me 1000 euros, which wasn't exactly cheap, but it solved the problem. Can you say more about your problem? The more information you provide, the better we can help you. Has the control unit been causing problems? Is it still responding at all? Holla back, maybe I can help you even more. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for the answer. So the control unit seems to be responding, but the cleaning system just doesn't do anything. Even after the last service with 100923 kilometers nothing has changed. As I said, the headlight cleaning system is simply dead. But it's cool that you see such a similarity, maybe it really is the control unit. I'm assuming that's also getting on in years?

Looks like you might actually have a problem with the ECU too, even though it's still responding. It's true that these things can give up the ghost over time, even in a reliable old Citroen DS5 diesel like ours. That was definitely the case for me. If the headlight cleaning system is still not responding after the service, I would personally suspect that something is broken in connection with the control unit. The best advice I can give you is really to take it to the garage and have it checked, even if it's unpleasant. At least then you'll know what's going on and whether it's this problem or something more serious. I hope this helps you and you make some progress in finding a solution. Let me know if you have any further questions!

Thank you for your advice. It seems to me that it's most likely to be the control unit. Although it's expensive, it's still better than guessing. I will follow the advice and take the car to the garage in the next few days. Hopefully the mechanic can confirm this and sort it out quickly. But you're right, certainty is the most important thing. I'll let you know when there's any news. Thank you for taking the time to help me, that's really great of you!
