Problems with the gearshift and warning light in a 2020 Ford Ecosport petrol engine: Could the transmission oil pressure sensor be the cause?

Transmission slips/shifts erratically

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Grinding noise when shifting gears

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my 2020 Ford Ecosport petrol engine. The car slips irregularly in the gearshift and makes strange noises when changing gear. The warning light in the speedometer is also flashing. Could this be due to the transmission oil pressure sensor? Does anyone have any experience with this and could give me some tips on how they fixed the problem in the workshop? I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2018 Ford Focus. I would classify my knowledge of cars as poor, but I'm trying to fight through it. The problem turned out to be a faulty transmission control unit, not a transmission oil pressure sensor. I took my car to the garage and they fixed it for me. It cost me around 1000 euros. Kind of an expensive undertaking, but it solved the problem. Could you perhaps give a few more details about your car? Mileage and whether you've had other problems with the gearbox might help to get a better picture. I hope this helps a little!

Hey, thanks for your answer! That could actually be the case. The Ecosport already has a high mileage of 146035 km, even though it's only from 2020. So far I haven't had any major problems with the gearbox. Well, the last service was a few months ago and nobody noticed anything. I'll definitely take it up with the garage, maybe they can help me. And if it ends up being that expensive, then so be it. Thanks again for the tip!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! Your mileage is really high for the year of manufacture, so that could definitely have something to do with the problem. After all, it's not unusual for something to break under heavy use. With my Focus, it was also around 120,000 km when the problem occurred. Hopefully it's not as expensive for you as it was for me. Let the garage have a look and tell them what you've already collected here. Maybe they'll be able to find something more specific. Keep your fingers crossed that it gets fixed quickly and cheaply. Give us an update when you know something new, I'd be interested to know what it was in the end! All the best!

Thanks for your encouraging words! Yes, it's really cool how the mileage has rocketed. I use it every day for longer journeys, hence the high mileage. But of course, I'll definitely let you know when the garage has had a closer look. Hopefully it won't be quite so expensive. Let's see what comes of it. Thank you and have a nice day!
