Problems with the electronic parking aid and electrics in a Renault Modus Diesel 2005

General electric malfunction

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Fault stored

Park distance control without function

Hey guys, I'm having problems with my Renault Modus Diesel, built in 2005. Somehow the electronic parking aid is acting up, general faults have occurred in the electrics, even an error message has been saved. The warning light in the speedometer is also illuminated. Could this perhaps be caused by a fault in the parking aid? Have any of you had similar experiences and can give me a few tips on how I can better isolate and rectify the problem? How did your garage deal with this? I would be grateful for any advice!

Hi mate, I had a similar problem with my 2003 Renault Clio. So, I would generally describe myself as someone with little car knowledge. What I did is, I went to my garage and told them about the error messages. It actually turned out that the parking aid control unit was faulty. The repair cost me 355 euros, but since then everything has been working perfectly again. Could you maybe give me a little more information about your car, such as the exact model or mileage, that might be helpful to give you some more detailed advice?

Hey buddy, thanks for the reply! My Renault Modus has come quite a way already, the mileage is 145197 km. The last service was not too long ago, but since then the problem has occurred. Your experience will definitely help me. I'll probably pay Michel a visit now too, hopefully the garage will be able to help me.

Hey, great that you now have some direction! With such a high mileage and especially with older cars like your Renault Modus and my Clio, it's not that unusual for something to go wrong with the electronics. The parking aid really did it to me too, it was really annoying. But after it was fixed in the workshop, everything ran smoothly again. Michel seems to be a top address if you want to have a look at it. Just tell him everything you've noticed and maybe mention my experience with the faulty parking aid. Maybe he'll have the same idea and can help you quickly. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's nothing serious and that your Renault Modus will be back on the road quickly!

Thanks, buddy, for your encouraging words and your help! I think you're right. With old models like this, it's probably unavoidable that some bitchy electronics will occur here and there. I'm reassured to hear that you had a similar problem and fixed it. I'll take your advice and pay Mistral a visit tomorrow and tell him everything I've noticed. I really hope it's nothing too serious and that my Renault Modus will be back in full operation soon. Thanks again for your help! Really much appreciated!

Servus, First check whether the sensors are still OK. Activate the parking aid and then hold a finger on the sensor, if you can hear a slight vibration then the sensor is working. If you get very close you can also hear whether the sensor is working. If you don't hear anything from a sensor, either the sensor is defective or the wiring is normally defective.
