Problems with the convertible roof and warning light on Skoda Superb 2012: tips and experience wanted

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

|

Convertible top cannot be opened or closed

Hello, I have a problem with my Skoda Superb petrol model 2012. Since recently, the convertible roof no longer works - it can neither be opened nor closed. In addition, a warning light comes on in the speedometer. Could it be that the sunroof has not been programmed correctly? Has anyone had similar experiences and could give me tips on how this was rectified in the workshop? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, I can understand that this is frustrating. I had a similar problem with my 2010 Skoda Octavia diesel model. I have a bit of experience with cars but am not a professional. I decided to take it to the garage. It turned out that it was actually repair work on the sunroof. The cost was manageable and the guys at the garage were great - they fixed everything for 45 euros. It could be the same for you. Can you perhaps tell us a bit more about your car? How many kilometers has it run, have you had any other work done on it recently? This information could help to better understand the problem.

Hello, thanks for the answer. My Skoda now has exactly 136038 kilometers on it. I last had it serviced about 6 months ago and everything was still fine with the sunroof. Apart from the sunroof, there are no other abnormalities. The whole thing is pretty strange... Well, I'll have to go to the garage for better or worse because of the warning light. I just hope it won't be too expensive. But good to hear that it wasn't that bad for you.

Hey, with this number of kilometers and the maintenance interval, a defect in the sunroof is of course annoying, but not unusual. In my Skoda, there was probably something wrong with the sunroof drive. It was replaced and relearned and, as I mentioned, the costs were really reasonable. Hopefully you won't need any more expensive repairs. If I were you, I would still have the fault memory read out, maybe there are still some clues there. Anyway, cheer up and good luck in the workshop. It's always a bummer when you have something like this, but it's usually half as bad and quickly fixed!

Hello again, thanks for your advice and the encouraging words. Yes, you're right, it's best if I have the fault memory read out, maybe then it will become clearer. Your experience reassures me a little and it's good to know that this can happen more often and doesn't necessarily cost a fortune. I'll need your luck in the workshop, thank you! Well, you always end up seeing each other in the workshop - hopefully with good news. See you then and thanks again!

Hi, it sounds like a programming issue with the sunroof. I'd recommend having it checked by a professional. To me the warning light might indicate a specific fault. Anyone else experienced this and can share solutions?

It's a good idea to have the fault codes read by a professional. This will help identify if it's a programming issue or a mechanical fault with the sunroof. If it's a mechanical issue, it could be something as simple as a stuck or broken switch. However, if the warning light is on, it's important to get this checked out as soon as possible for safety reasons.
