Problems with the alarm system on the LandCruiser model year 2009: experiences and solutions wanted

Alarm system malfunctions

Hi folks, the alarm system on my LandCruiser built in 2009 with a gasoline engine is currently causing problems. It is not working as it should and the problem could be with the alarm siren communication. Have any of you ever had similar problems and what have you had done in the workshop to solve it? Would love to hear your experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I once had a similar problem with my 2007 Toyota Hilux. I have very little experience with cars, so I ended up at my local garage. They found out that the control unit was faulty. It cost me 1000 euros to get it fixed, so not exactly cheap. Could you give me more information about your vehicle so I can give you more specific advice? I'd be happy to help you. Best regards.

Hey, thanks for the answer. My LandCruiser has already been driven a bit, it has 240484 kilometers on the clock. The last service was about half a year ago and no major problems were discovered. I'll take your tip and have the control unit checked. 1000 euros is not cheap, but safety comes first of course. Greetings back!

Moin, you're right, safety comes first. With so many kilometers, it's not unusual for one part or another to give up the ghost. With my Hilux, it was over 200k kilometers when the alarm system started acting up. Nevertheless, before you throw out 1000 euros for the control unit, you could perhaps first check the battery in the remote control or possibly replace it. Sometimes it's the simple things that cause problems. If that doesn't help, it could also be, as you suspect in your case, with the communication of the siren system, or the control unit. Keep us up to date, I look forward to seeing what happens next. Good luck and best wishes!

Hello, thank you very much for the helpful tips. I will definitely check the battery in the remote control before I spend a large sum of money. To be honest, I hadn't even thought about it. If that doesn't help, I'll follow your advice and have the control unit checked. I'll definitely keep you posted on what happens. Thanks again for your quick and helpful reply! Best regards!
