Problems with the air conditioning system and overheating in the 2016 Mercedes Citan Diesel: suspected fault with the electric fan or its control unit

Air conditioning blows warm air

Overheating

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2016 Mercedes Citan Diesel. The air conditioning is just blowing warm air and the car is overheating. My guess is that the electric fan or the electric fan control is going crazy. Have any of you had similar experiences and can help me with a few troubleshooting tips? How did you get this solved at your garage and what were your experiences? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2014 Mercedes Vito. Although I have limited experience with cars, I would say that your guess is correct and the problem is with the "electric fan control unit". At my garage, they replaced the control unit and it cost 480 euros. But after that, everything worked perfectly again. Can you please give me more information about your car, how many kilometers it has done and when was the last inspection? This could help to pinpoint the problem a little more precisely.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! My Citan has already done 59539 km and the last inspection was a few months ago. I'll take your tip about replacing the electric fan control unit to my garage. Thanks again for your help!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! Your Citan has already been through a lot. A few months have passed since the inspection, but I would still say that a visit to the workshop is worthwhile. As the car is overheating and the air conditioning is blowing out warm air, I still think the problem is with the electric fan or the electric fan control. It could also be a problem with the coolant, but your garage would have to check that. I hope this helps you and you solve the problem soon. Keep us posted on how it goes. Good luck!

Hey, your answers are really super helpful! I'm going straight to the garage tomorrow to have the car checked out. Hopefully the problem will be solved and it won't be too expensive. I'll definitely be in touch as soon as I have any new information. Thanks again for your help and tips, it's really put my mind at rest. Take care and hopefully see you soon with good news!
