Problems with the air conditioning and overheating in a 2012 Renault Laguna

Air conditioning blows warm air

Overheating

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Renault Laguna (petrol engine, year of manufacture 2012). The air conditioning only blows warm air and the car overheats. I suspect the problem could be with the electric fan or the electric fan control. Do any of you have any experience or tips on the best way to solve this? I would also be interested to know how this was resolved in the workshop. Thanks in advance!

Hi, so I'm not a car mechanic or anything, but I've dealt with a similar situation before with my 2010 Renault Megane. Basically I had the same problem, the electric fan "control unit" was faulty. I then had it repaired at my garage. All in all, it cost around 480 euros. It wasn't cheap, but it worked perfectly again afterwards. However, to help you further, I would need more information about your car. For example, what is your mileage and when was the last inspection carried out? And are you sure that the problem is with the electric fan or could it be other parts? Any additional information helps!

Hey, thanks for your answer! So, the Laguna has 115369 km on it now and the last service was a few months ago. I'm not entirely sure if it's really the electric fan, that's why I asked. But thanks for the tip about the control unit, that might be it. I'll keep you posted if I find out anything new. Best regards!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! You could be right about the mileage, it could be the electric fan or the control unit. In my Megane, it was at around 130000 km that the control unit had to be replaced. But of course this can vary greatly from car to car. Did the overheating start after the last service, or was it the case before? If the problem only appeared afterwards, it could also be that something was overlooked during the inspection. And you could also check the coolant level if you haven't already done so. Sometimes low coolant levels also lead to problems with overheating. I once had a similar situation where the coolant had to be topped up. Everything was fine again afterwards. I hope you find the solution to your problem soon! Keep us up to date and good luck with troubleshooting! Greetings back!

Hey, great, thanks for the detailed answer! The overheating actually started after the last service, so it could be possible that something was overlooked there. I'll definitely follow your advice and check both the ECU and the coolant level. I'll get back to you when I've solved the problem or have any further questions. See you soon and thanks again! Regards!
